DJG, the way I see it, and this depends strongly on the wx conditions, is that I have about 5 hours of flying around the patch before I get signed out for solo in the circuit, then I will do 2 dual x-country's; the first is a "orientation" flight and the second a true nav flight. Then about 1 hour dual in GFA to get signed out solo for the GFA and maybe 2 hours solo GFA. (Please don't shout me down if this order is incorrect! It may be GFA solo sign out before x-country, I am not too sure but will check with Wayne) Then my solo x-country, a bit more consolidation around the patch and GFA. A flight test check out by Wayne and then the flight test.

All in all 5 hours around the patch, 2 X 3 hour dual x-country, 3 hours GFA, 3 hour solo x-country, 3 hours consolidation and then 1.5 hours check out by Wayne = 22 hours. Calculating that I am planning on doing at least 3 hours per week (this is where the wx factor comes in) it should be by mid-March!

Please guys don't hold me to this, but this is my plan. I also have my exams to write during this time.

Maybe I will start a post "Who is getting their licence next ?" ???

Good idea Wart. Don't wanna say it too loudly but Saturday at 6am I am doing the flight test with the "Russian Wing Wizard". Kinda worried seeing that the last time I flew with him was about 17hours ago and I nearly killed us landing in a 14knot cross-wind  . I don't think he thinks too highly of me as a pilot, but alot can happen in 17 hours  . Will have to prove him wrong!! :D

Hold thumbs.

Yeah, it's a case of taking off, hovering above the runway and landing in the same spot again. The pros are, there is always enough runway ahead of you, the cons are, the view is a bit limited.

Ja It was my turn this morning this solo shit. We did three circuits this morning early with if my memory serves me right 4 emergencies and I was spot on with all of them and the last landing was a full engine out glide approach with a perfectly executed full stop landing. Now at the age of 50 Istarted to loose a bit of confidence in myself but I was told to taxi to the main hanger and he got out. Bit of a briefing and of I went got airborne, The Bantam climbed like a fart in the bath and I could feel that the wind had picked up quite bad, then there was a call on the radio and the Instructor decided that we needed a change of runway so that gave me a bit more time in the air and I joined a long final on 03 and put the Bantam down like a tomcat pissing on a piece of velvet. Although in an open cockpit I got out full of smiles and sweating like a pig, But it was lekker man. Now for the ballance of the training.
