Better late than never - some pics of the Cape last weekend.
We even have our own private runway with a priceless view - and not ATNS or fees to boot! Beat that! Exact position - somewhere up the West Coast.

I had the most fantastic day`s flying yesterday. Wanted to deliver Patric`s aerie in Saldanha. Took off at sparrows, only to find the whole west coast covered in mist as far as my eyes could see. Tucked my tail up between me legs and did the sensible bit: Went back home. Took off again at 4 same afternoon, and enjoyed one of those "Magic Carpet Ride" flights. The new aerie performed flawlessly, the 582 singing along witout misfiring a single beat.
First "Town", Brandkop. Where the TV story, "Die Manakwalaners" has been shot. We are still pissed off about it, because it painted a less than flattering pic about the Afrikaner.
Just on the other side of Niewoudville, I fly over the Van Rhyns pass. The steepest tarred pass in South Africa. Mmmm. Much safer and quicker to go over it by air?? :D Eventually the fertile Olifants rivier valley looms up. Brannewyn bos growing everywhere. Wine winewinewine beiing made here, seriously, how much wine do we need??
The Bushbaby just humms along, and the afternoon sun makes me drowsy. Out of sheer boredon, I start to TRY and redo the settings on the MGL panel, and manages to bugger up the few remaining working functions. Eventually give it up for a bad job, and continiue my flight on a water temp and a ref counter. ( NO GPS)
Lamberts Bay. Here I did a lot of snorkeling, crayfishing, and partying. It all seems so long ago now. I think nice thoughts as I look down on all the diving spots I knew so well. Over Baboon Point at Elandsbay, I start losing altitude and fly along the endless golden beach of St Helena bay.
I am never glad to be at the end of this kind of flight, and wish Saldanha was at least another 100 miles further on. But the sun is setting and the sea mist starts pushing in. Less than 10 minutes after landing, Saldanha Airport is fogged in comletely. The cool sea mist a wellcome change to the sveltering Summer heat we have to endure.
