Yes, great shots ! I just want to go out and fly when I see this !

I wonder about the turbulence....

I was quite surprised to encounter VERY little turbulence while crossing the Drakensberg, at midday in summer while the wind was blowing at 25+ mph. Looking back I can only remember one occation where it was severe enough to require major control input.

This was in a 3-axis though (Rans S12). The little flying I have done on trikes makes me think it is a LOT worse in a trike !

Rudi

what turbulence????
I will only fly those areas early morning or late afternoon. Turb on trike can get scary at times over there. These photos were early morning and crossing the mountains there was already turb but it wasnt bad at all, well worth the flight.
Midday over drakensberg........no way!!!!!

I dont understand whats happening with the wind in SA this year, it just doesnt want to stop, damn irretating, hope it cools down before barberton next week!

Looking at the melting sun, I don't think that only the weeds are dying! Once again stunning pic! You don't perhaps take pics for a mag do you?

Hi DF,

Thanks ! Yes, it does look rather dangerous, I was glad he stopped spraying before getting to me....

No, I do not take photos for any particular magazine but I have had quite a few photos published in a few magazines including National Geographic. I am a semi professional photographer, most of my "working" shots are motorsport (Local and A1/F1 GP) and some modeling portfolios/shoots. I sell many photos though a agent in the USA (Getty).

Hope to see you at Petit again sometime, the Microland runway is a bit short for my toys

Regards,
Rudi

Hi D,

Thanks for the compliment !

Yes, small world ! I remember that day well, I have not been to Swartkops for a while, been too busy flying :D Use to race there a bit as well, bikes and cars but have not been on the track for a while, last time I was on the track I damaged the car

More pics on the way.....

Feeding time !

It is not often that she gets fed from a pump and not a can, the Rotax 618 runs well on Avgas. Shot at Oribi (FAPM). Look at the clouds in the distance over the mountains
