Gert,

the important tning is that you and your pax are safe and secondly that the aircraft didn't sustain any damage. Well done.

Yes, I wish I had it running, but did not even have a camera with me - only record is that GPS track.

Even if I had it running, since my tapes are only one hour, and battery life an hour on a good day, I doubt that I would have had it on tape. I must still figure out a way to switch the camcorder on/off - at the moment if I pause it with the remote, it switches off after a couple of minutes and one has to manually switch it on again, not a great idea with the cam mounted on the wing.

And I don't think Graham who was circling overhead was recording anything as well - will ask him when I fly with him this week Wedsnesday, Saturday and Sunday. A hard life!

Gert

Big G had a similar problem when he took my wife for a flip many moons ago, those Rotax motors seem to know when to be stubborn and when not to be. At least you and your Pax made it ok and there was no damage. Keep the logs coming they are great to read.

Have you tried an external power source Gert?

That is one of the reasons why I want to look at a wing mounted bullet cam and then a Digital Video Recorder on the trike.

I know too little about electronics to venture into an external power source for the videocam (if you are referring to my forced landing, there was no time to invoke External Power).

As far as the videocam is concerned, it is a Canon MV880X and has a DC 8.4V plug - so if any bright spark know how to get power from battery to this without blowing anything, please tell!

We landed on a farmstrip 4.5miles north-west of Morningstar ("Koeberg Park") where I have noticed others before. The farmer, Mr Curry approached and asked for everyone to be notified that landing on this private cropspraying strip is prohibited.

Started the day with a puncture. Quickfix solved problem. Went for a couple of circuits and landings to see if tire will hold. No problem.

Heard CLU and AUK in air.

Flying with Trygve, Peter, Graham to Blouberg in less than ideal weather. Will be out of action for a week since Trygve is getting my (trike's) exhaust chromed and hopefully my GX2 will be sorted as well if the "black box" is replaced. Went to Morningstar where Peter had just done a landing in gusty wind, and according to those around did (spectacularly) well. Zirk (the new Chairman of WCMC), Greg and others were there and we had a discussion about FASH and their policy re Trikes. There seems to be some confusion - maybe someone from FASH can once and for all tell us whether we are allowed? (see different topic - EVENTS - their January Fly-in).
