Also, as per my previous post, does anyone know of switch boxes? Sites please?
Can some one please explain to me how the whole recording from a Mini DV (tape) camera through a switchvbox and then onto an external Hard drive e.g. RV4ker's Achros??? Help!
Cheers

Drop me an email and I answer all questions...

Switch box from any security cam shop, or online (cheaper).
Basically the Camera has RCA cable which plugs into the AV in on the Camera (not all camera's have these). Press record on the video camera selecting AV in as source. If you have more than 1 camera you use switch box to select which input goes to the video camera. Simple as that then it on Mini DV tape. Then plug USB or firewire into PC and download the miniDV to PC. Select quality (high - HUGE) and convert to AVI, Mpeg or MP4...

Similar with Achros.
Just plug RCA into Achros and press record. It already in AVI format so just copy to PC...

easy, buy 3 camcorders, strap them to the wings, switch all on, and edit afterwards

Mine is a "made for purpose" type setup.

I took a piece of angle iron 4" long, and welded a piece of flat bar onto the closed side, so I can use cable ties to secure it anywhere on the profile tube. On the inside of the angle iron, I put two strips of single sided tape, which cushions the bracket, reduces vibration and protects the profile tube from being scratched. I also drilled a small hole at the opposite end of the flat bar, so that I can bolt the Panasonic SDR-S15 onto it, and the beauty of it is that I can start the camera at any point of the taxi from the power bloc, and stop it at any point after landing.

What I have found is that when it is lower down the profile tube, you get a lot of movement on landing, as it is almost the lowest point on the pendulum under the wing.

Works for me.. vhpy
