Hi John and Diesel Fan,
Those airies standing for such long times were probably bought to reduce tax bills for the owners.
I know that in biker circles some guys buy Harleys ride them a couple of times and then they staaaaaaaaand and staaaaaaand.
Very sad for airies and bikes.
Kind regards,
Gunter Rostek.

I'm still here just that I canh only get access to Microlighters.co.za during tea-time and lunch-time and during those times I am usually busy working too.
I try and log on as often as possible and find that I spend most of that time just catching up on the posts and leaving very little time for me to post.

Hey Big DBig D wrote:Simon - Question? How come you are not an active pilot? Why not make the dream come true?
Hope I am not getting too personal here?
I tell you with trikes being as cheap as they are these days anyone can afford to fly.
Irony is that some people might look down on the cheapies like Windlass - I spoke to an instructor this morning that prefers flying a Windlass to most other trikes....Says the lift and agility of a Windlass is not easily beaten by fancy airies![]()
Food for thought. Where there is a will there is a way
D
PS: I don't own a trike eitherWorking on it though
You are not getting too personal so not to worry. I really wish it was an economic problem but unfortunately I can't hide behind this excuse. I am in the fortunate position that I could buy a fairly decent trike if I was allowed to!
"Allowed to" being the important statement here. My wife is really great and gives me freedom to do many things but unfortunately she is really scared of the safety aspect and the risk that I may just fall out of the sky leaving her and the kids to fend for themselves. This is really a difficult debate to win as she has some valid concerns. It is not just about microlights but flying in general. She has flown in a trike and thinks it is great but at this stage of our lives she thinks the risk is not worth taking. I do after all have to think about the kiddies as well. I agree that there are risks with driving, etc but the perception of the uneducated will always be a negative one, just mention the word microlight and many people say "NO WAY....ARE YOU MAD

I will not give up though and one day in the future I will be able to participate in this forum as an active trike pilot. It will remain a dream until fulfilled. In the interim I catch a flip when available, it helps to keep the juices flowing.

Put a ballistic chute on your trike and I would say its safer than driving on the roads. I have stopped cycling because it is soooo dangerous (taxis).
A ballistic chute is definetley the answer - by sister-in-law will only let my brother fly if his aerie has one, but she will let him.
