Nice pic's Nico, Sue and Rafiek.

Guys like, Louis Meyer, Pieter de Necker, Andy Casperson and Fred Blockland, who started flying microlights in the early 80's, must also please post here. Pieter had a BP sponsored MFledge (a framed picture is hanging in his house) and Louis bought the second one manufactured by George Killey. I bought the 4th. Still remember the article in the Scope magazine about George's flight from Durban to Cape Town. That article inspired me to buy a MFledge. ($$) ($$)

The pics are on pg 1. Ja, Scope was more known for other pictures....the ones with stars in critical places. The article was in a 1980 Scope. I might still have it

Extracts from the POH. Very comprehensive book with more than 200 pages. Containes detailed rigging & de-rigging instructions, pre-flight instructions and then of course, flight instructions, broken up into 16 lessons. In preparation, I received the book a month or two before collecting my MFledge. So, I was an experienced pilot by then.

Just love it as well, Sue. xxx Aviation is great and the people are great too. We have come such a long way since then. For one thing, there are now many very competent instructors, like yourself. Also, for safety reasons, much more regulated. The design of the aircraft is also so much better and safer. The MFledge was basically a powered hang glider.

I enjoy my flying so much more now because I am not scared shitless every time I wander into the sky. s023
