I must admit, I'm changed from a very scared pilot to still a very careful pilot. I did a bit of flying again last night and I enjoyed it so mush.
I think the problem I had was that I wanted to fly the tryke when I wanted to fly it and not necessary when the conditions were perfect and it stressed me out if I couldn’t fly. Not that I flown in very bad conditions before but the mere idea of what could happen when flying in risky conditions freaked me out. I also didn’t want to be the one to prove how good the structure of the tryke could take the hammering, coz then I have to push it to brake up. That left me with another feeling of insecurity coz how mush hammering can this thing take then?
I came to the point that I now accepted that a tryke is and always will be a toy and there fore I had now adopt the following attitude:
1. It doesn’t mater if I fly less hours than before, But I only fly when conditions is smooth to super smooth.
2. I don’t hurry from work to quickly go and fly an hour if I did not do an inspection on the plane that morning or the night before. Must say it is only 7 km to the hanger from where I stay.
3. If I find I'm running out of time to go and fly, well I don't go to fly. Coz that is when pre flights gets done halve or not at all.
4. If I can't fly today, I can always go and fly next time when I feel that WX permits it.
5. If any work had been done on the plane, whether it is me that worked on it or serviced it, or the Gurus at the factory that is supposed to know what they are doing on your plane, or someone that I could be trusting with my live, I will always re inspect work done the day before I take it for a flight. I will never trust to fly anything if there is room to not feel comfortable that I at leased double checked any work done by anyone and did a full inspection on the plane, top to bottom.
6. Always, but always use the full length of the runway to take off.
If any work had been done, take off and fly about two feet about the runway and fell the handling of the plane and if ANY dough’s, put her back onto the runway.
7. If you had any work done on the plane, make it a standard to first fly the circuit for at least four flying hours before you leave the circuit for cross countries again or over fly arias that is less save for forced landings or unknown territory.
8. If you aren’t going to enjoy flying, don’t go fly that day.
9. I find flying help a lot when I'm stressed, but then there are two golden rules to adhere to. Do not rush things before flight and two; don't fly absent minded, concentrate on all the aspects of your flying. You can always stress about the cause of your stress after you parked the plane in the hanger. I just find that I feel so mush more up to it then.
10 If I stick to this rules and except that flying micro lights is supposed to be about having fun, been careful and doing it as a sport, why would I not enjoy it?
I do fly less, but I enjoy it so mush more.
