I started learning to fly in 1971, and obtained my PPL in Feb 1972. Never been without something to fly, BUT never stopped learning about flying either. Still enjoy my flying today as when I started all those years ago. Allways listen to what the old pilots teach you, and never stop learning about flying. Fly safe!! .......AND I made such wonderfull friends along the way!

Plan ahead... this starts the night before you fly! Good airmanship starts when you just contemplate flying! Think.... complacency kills!
When in doubt... DON'T! The weather can be a bitch but then can so many other things!
Be well rested... Do not fly if you are seriously stressed, emotional troubled or fatigued!
Have enough fuel (clean & water free fuel)
When flying, be vigilant, look for forced landing spots, good lookout (VFR), ANC (Aviate, Navigate, Communicate)
I subtract points before I fly.... Road Rage on the way to the airfield, Can't find the keys to the hangar, Flat tyre, Battery flat (somebody is trying to tell you something!)
To show off and demonstrate tends to put you on the front page of the Sunday newspapers.
Make a point of having situational and 3 dimensional awareness!
Have Santjie White's / Search & Rescue's telephone number in your possession.... not only that - give it to your loved ones!
Carry a bottle of water with you on each flight.
Dress as if you are going to do an outlanding in the bundus... shoes, flight suite etc.
The FOUR main "killers" in aviation :
THE WEATHER (directly & indirectly)
FUEL
FATIGUE
CFIT (Controlled Flight Into Terrain)
Sjoe.... and I can go on!

Ja JeanTree... an aeroplane and it's mechanics and without sounding like a MCP, is like most softnesses, treat her well and she'll treat you well
There are those odd ones that do tend to take you to the cleaners, blow their regulators and overcharge their batteries....
