Collapsible fuel bladder 20 - 25lt
Re: Collapsible fuel bladder 20 - 25lt
There is a company in Cape Town called welding fabrication services they in montague gardens they helped me out to make some fuel cells for my boats, they bought in na machine for a few mill that actualy high frequency welds the polyurothane material and at the end you get a fuel cell that conforms to FAI spec as used in NASCAR racing and other forms of racing. I am going to get them to do fuel cells for both my airies.

I bought 4 x 15litre fuel bladders @ R 40-00 each the end of last year. I think it is old army supplies and really good quality. Don't know if they still have any available. I unfortunately don't know the companies name, but they are next to the R 21. The company sells old trucks, equipment, tents, etc and coming from OR Tambo to Pretoria they are just before the bridge on the left just before St George Hotel.
Edit, found their web site: http://tentpro.co.za/surplus/

Re: Collapsible fuel bladder 20lt = R950.00 incl
Hi Guys,
I have brought in 10 x 20lt collapsible fuel bladders, cost to me landed and in my hanger is R950.00 each. I have kept 2 for myself and 2 of my flying buddies from Ballito has taken 1 each, so I have 6 left if anyone wants. This will be on first come first serve basis.
This product is lightweight and can be folded, will fit in a pannier bag or in the luggage space in a LSA without taking up hardly any space, great for those fly-aways where you need to collect mogas from the nearby garage, ordered them for myself as I am doing a 1 week trip up the Moz coast in May.
I decided to bring in an extra 8 as I am sure some of you guys would want at least 1, as I said 2 have already gone so only 6 left.
You can email me - mark@processlitho.co.za if you are interested.
Mark.

I bought two from Tentpro. They are definitely bigger and heavier (can't' fold up that small) but then also just R40 a pop.

Re: Collapsible fuel bladder 20 - 25lt
Just got 4 of the Tentpro types at R40 each (never used). They got them from a military auction. The Airforce used it to deliver fuel / water to ground troops by throwing it from aircraft
It is made of rubber, probably reinforced neoprene, with built-in pouring spout which serves as lid when rolled / folded into a little bundle and stuffed into a rubber pouch and tied with nylon string, all part of the bladder. The bladder is about 700 x 550 x 7 mm (empty) with handles which can be used as tie-down points on all four sides. When full it becomes about 600 x 450 x 180mm. Have not measured volume yet, but it probably holds about 15 litre as advertised.
Empty weight is 3Kg, which is the same as that of a rubbish chinese steel jerrycan, but lighter than the real army steel jerrycan which weighs in at just under 4,5Kg on the bathroom scale, excluding a pouring spout. The advantage of this fuel bladder is that it is flat (7mm thick) when empty and can fit into the luggage compartment or be used as a cusion to sit on, you can blow air into it for more comfort
It will probably not like it very much to be folded, but can be rolled into a neat roll of about 230mm diameter x 550mm long. The non ridget pouring spout is about 350mm long, looks like a bicycle inner tube and about 30mm in diameter. It could be a bit messy to decant since the spout is on the flat side of the bladder, but feeding the spout into the fuel tank could make it useable. The pouch into which the spout folds is about 35mm high with the spout in it.
Has anybody used this kind of bladder for fuel before? How must it be filled and emptied? How do we get the sticky stuff on the surface off?

Turps and elbow grease. More grease than turps though, or you can hire Tinkerbell for R 910-00 / bladder to clean.
