I tried to intercept the pilot on his way to the Skunk Works hangar Sunday morning with a low level strafing run but for once German wheels managed to beat British wings

Must have been the boertjie pilot

He made it to the hangar and managed to escape towards the north in full stealth mode.......

Is it a plane ,is it a bird ,-is it ........... vhpy
yes , yes , yes - its an old Windlass... (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^)
Like a phoenix it rose out of the ashes. (**)
The old lady belonged to Archie Rautenbach who passed away a few years ago - it was fitted with a new 582 silvertop which was duly removed before the restoration process began . ($$)
The original engine frame was replaced and a low hour 503 DCDI was fitted (close to Conrads heart) and it was ferried to Hans for dual controls and new cables and throttle cables etc. ($$)
She has an Aquilla wing which passed the sailtester test . (!!) (!!)
She was Ap ed and supplied with an ATF and was ferried back to Rhino Park and duly put into a new hangarat Rhino Park.
She has done in excess of 4 hours so far with two up , a full tank and takes off like a home sick Angel. xxx
Many of our students will do their solo flights in "the Phoenix " as she is known as from now on (-) (-) .
Nice response from all you guys , and good luck to all those who fly her .
She handles light in the roll takes off in less than 30 meters and flies at a leasurely pace of 45 mph hands off 55 mph with the bar pulled in .
Climbing out at 6650 rpm she will do 800 foot per minute .
on landing she just floats forever.
The "C" box 3.0 :1 is fitted with a trimmed 72 inch warp drive and there is no shortage of thrust and torque .
Even if I have to say it myself nothing flies like and old Windlass.
Well the green and golds have a new owner for now , but he calls to collect they remain in the frige in the flight school safe at Rhino Park
well done to our winner and new member of Microlighters. (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^)
