 Spot on !

My paperwork went in 3 years and 1 month ago !

Two months ago I had an inspection by the SAPS of my gun safe.

Other than that, no confirmation of Lic renewal yet. ##

Are you sure they were not scouting for the crooks where the guns are...... ##

Would not surprise me. About 2 weeks after the inspection, on returning home at 22h00, I found 2 guys waiting behind my garage. Luckily my Boerboels sorted them out. Never before seen guys jumping over an 8 ft electric fence  .

Well - went to Kempton yesterday at around 10h00 - already aver a 1000 people there. They closed the gate at 12:00 with around 4000 people in the ground. At 03:15 this morning I was number 1005 and the stopped processing at 1000 and they gave the rest a slip to return on a certain date. My feet are finished and I can't keep my eyes open.

So what's the repercussions of not renewing the licence?.

To be honest I hav'nt bothered and the only time they'll know is when I have the most legitimate use of using it.

You now have 3 months to hand it in, sell or have it de-activated. If after that you have not done those actions you own illegal firearms and will be prosecuted as such and your firearms confiscated.

The police indicated last night that they will simply open a case against you by defualt and then prosecute so don't be too complacent about this one. Sadly I think it is one way of quickly disarming a lot of people and it looks like the government is taking a tough stance on that so don't sit back and wait to see what happens. Perhaps you can rather sell them to a gunshop - get your licenses cancelled and buy tham back a while later. Might be the only way out if you actually wanted them. Of course you might wait over 4 years for your new approval....

I have had 4 of my guns approved and licences issued. the 5th is a .22 rifle that they won't renew. So if anyone is interested make me an offer. BRNO Deluxe .22 with 2 X 20 scope.

My wife has one but it just is not worth the effort and expense so she has decided to hand it in at the cop shop. She is finding out the process as we speak.

They interviewed the Officer who started all of this on Carte Blanche on Sunday and he is a typically arrogant cop. "You doesn't comply, we lock you up"

Guys do not disarm yourself. It will be a moer of an issue to re-licence yourself one day again. It is not that a big issue. There is already talk of the gun owners association to ask for an extension till 30 June .

It is an issue if you wait till due date, and then needs to que. I know lots of people that went through the motions in time, my wife included, without hassles. Yes you wait for the license, but get your paperwork in order. Bacically like a radio license.

Rather late than never. Wait for the racket to clear this week, then go for it - BUT JUST DO IT. ## ##

Same police who said "we will not extend the deadline" when the first due date came up, only to extend it with three months the next day.

Well today is the next day and no extensions yet..... I'm also totlally against disarming yourself but also watch out for sitting with an illegal firearm possession charge against your name. Kind of screws up your life...
For everrybodies's sake I hope they do call an extension.

I love the way they have turned every law abiding, honest, safe gunowner who hasn't applied into a criminal in one foul swoop

The other thing that seriously pee'd me off was the way thy went to all my neighbours to a) tell them I have guns in the house, b) ask them if they felt I was not a risk wrt behaviour etc. What if you have an issue with a neighbour, he can tell them you are a serial killer and there goes your guns

I went through the exact kak 3 years ago and made the deadline by 2 days. They came around interviewed my wife checked the safe out. Never heard a single word from them again untill the first week of January this year to say that my licences were available for collection. I spoke to a cop once doing patrol and he said please to go through the process as you will never get a licence again!! I have a few mates from the first group with me who said stuff it and ignored the new licencing law and they don't seem to be in jail yet. It's like the rest of this place going pearshape!!

It gets worse.

Apparently the new thing is that you have to take your " character witnesses" to the police station for the interview. The police do not phone anymore. Stephan can confirm when he goes as this is what my cousin was told at Kempton Park last week. Now how the F@#$% is this gonna work. You and three people must now waste your hard earned leave (`cos they do not work after hours)to go to the police because they are trying to save time and make things easier for themselves.

I was not told this when I went to Germiston so I just wonder what is going to happen??
