Hi Guys
Not sure of the copyright issues, but the last 2 pics were by Vincent, who supplied us with CDs of the Comp.
Myself and Colin Dettmann competed in a 503 Aquilla, which does not really want to leave the ground at 3500ft with 2 fat old f@rts aboard - Hence the lack of all extra weight - including Colin's headset! This was a short field take-off task.
The weather was actually kind to us, but that meant not much lift for the limited fuel thermalling task. We were still able to cope with the wind with the 503.
But we had a lot of fun, we gradually improved, learning a huge amount on the way, and turned in a not too shabby second place for the last and arguably the most challenging task. We'll be back.
Well done to the winners. I now understand the skill and practice that goes into getting to that level.
Thanks and huge respect also to Larry, Donovan, Rob and all of the Ladysmith team who did such an awesome job of organising and marshalling the event.
