Re: Mike Blythe is flying around the world !!
I also remember a good smile about Mike, we were sitting on some pan or other in the Kalahari, Mike judging a spot landing competition..so we all did our bit and I then said "OK Mike now you can show us how its done" reply "Well I havent flown an Aquilla for many years but lets see what we can do".
He jumps into CEW and promptly lands it smack on the numbers. Best of the day...Enough said. Just brilliant. Not a word from anybody, then you realise hes a natural aviator...
Ciao Paul

Hi Peg Leg
I see you fly from Caboolture. We are not too far away on the Gold Coast. Where do you live?
Drop me PM. Maybe we can get together for a beer.
Have you spotted Werver at Caboolture airfield?
cheers
Andre

Go ahead, start a new thread, the funny side of flyingI honour Mike Blyth and guys like him, and maybe, if you will do it Morph, we should open a post to share our funny moments in flying, especially, but not exclusive, those funny impossible moments that became by definition the moments that shaped our aviation experience of flying in South Africa -

I have changed the name of the thread by specific request
And they are off again, 12h00UTC, 14h00 SA time, 1872km leg, from US Virgin Islands to Fort Pierce Florida. Once again they are 8000ft and cruising along at 99knots. Should take them 10.2hours, although they are bargaining on 11.
This put's their arrival around 7pm Florida time. Sunset is 8:19pm, so they have enough daylight
Click here for current time on Florida is UTC-4 or SA-6 (http://www.worldtimeserver.com/current_ ... US-FL.aspx)
Good luck guys

I estimate thier arrival time at 17:40 Florida time (23:35 local). Just hope that the thunderstorms between Nassau and Fort Pierce does not become a problem.

At least they have a few alternatives. Some of those islands are almost enough reason to get lost.

They are safely down at Gainesville Palatka Larkin airfield in Florida USA after first clearing customs at St Lucie Airfield, Fort Pierce, and dodging some serious thunderstorm activity.
Today they have a 1972km(1065nm) stretch into Oshkosh, which should take them +/-11 hours. They are expecting to be there by 17h00 Oshkosh time, Midnight SA time
