FIRE IN HANGER

Postby BOATCH » Fri Jan 23, 2009 7:52 am

HI I have got something to share with all my flying friends out there.Last night after work the wind was howling and i thought there is no use of going to the airfield, and then Redroman called me to bring a torque wrench to the airfield cause he had some work to do on his aircraft. I then went to the hanger and as i got there i thaught i will drop the tools at his hanger and leave. As i was on my way past my hanger i thought i will just open my hanger and check if all is ok and if the electr is on cause the munisip was working on the transformer . As i opend the hanger i smelt wires burning and then i saw the flames in the hanger at the elect switch bord ,i had the fright of my life and lucky for me my fire extingwisher was full and i could put the flames out. My planes wing was about one meter away from the flames and the roof has got wood so this could lead in a big disaster.I got the electrision out and he checked the current and got a reading of 370 volts at the switch box.Is there someone that knows elect cause i would like to take it up with the munisipality.I have the lord to thank for saving the sport that i love so mutch. So do not think every thing is always OK at the hanger and if you get that gut feeling go and check it out . :( :o (**) vhpy

Shew, lucky you were there.

I had a similar incident at my farm when the power went off for two days. They then had to replace the transformer up the road. They rewired my place back to 3 phase by mistake and my DB board caught alight in my kitchen. R28000 later and I am still fighting with the corporation for settlement.
