Welcome Toddyjohn

Well the whole country is nice to fly, just not right now (**) you will not be able to see the difference between here and home :!: but when the weather finally clears I would personally suggest Eastern Transvaal, or now called Mphumalanga  Its absolutely beautifull and a short hop to the coast, in particular St Lucia and above 8)

Enjoy

Hi and Welcome,

We all have our favourites. Mpumalanga is beautiful but so is KZN and the Wild Coast. Cape is also really nice. Drakensberg mountains etc etc

Have fun when you come over.

Cheers,

Hi Toddyjohn,

Welcome and enjoy !!!!

The home of Skyranger in South Africa is East London. As far as I know, the only Skyranger that was in Natal (Durban) has also been sent to East London ZU-DAM.

Contact FAWGie or Captain Biggles (both Forum members). FAWGie also has an email link under his avatar.

John - thanks so much for your reply - I don't necessarily need to fly a skyranger - in fact the more diverse the better - I will contact Fawgie and Cpt Biggles

Hi Toddyjohn,

Actually, there are several skyranger aircraft flying in South africa with no less than four fine examples Flying in East London. I suggest that you give the agent a call (He will have all the owners contact details) and you can arrange some "hire and fly" with one of the owners.

The agents name is Clinton Phillips and you can reach him on: 082 857 9405 or international: +27 828 579 405

Hi there toddyjohn and welcome to the forum.

There are quite a few places where you could fly in South Africa, some close to the coast and some that are inland. Each have their own unique attraction and I would suggest that you investigate each and then decide where you would like to go. My suggestion is that you spend a bit of time inland and a bit of time at the coast as it will give you a better perspective of our beautiful country.

With regards to the coast, I can only talk from my experience and that would be to suggest KwaZulu-Natal. There are a number of airfields near and on the coast and I can recommend the airfield where I fly from Light Flight. There is another airfield very close by with accommodation so it is quite convenient.

With regards to aircraft for hire-and-fly, at Light Flight they have flex-wing microlights as well as fixed wing so you have quite a choice.

If you need any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me and I will put you in the right direction.

I look forward to meeting you at Light Flight if you are in the area.
