I got scared after seeing all the accidents and knowing some of the guys involved. I then stopped flying, and sold everything I had that had to do with microlights (Except my helmet) - 6 months later I had a change of heart   vhpy (^^)

I had to replace everything - Sold GPS for next to nothing, new ones cost a little more :? You get the idea

There are definately risks to flying - BUT it is my passion and my weekends sucked without flying and I was driving my wife nuts and she pleaded with me to start flying again as she could see how much I missed it - Also, it can be made safer by sticking to the rules including the ones you set for yourself

Thatchman wrote something a while ago that I will remember - Fly safe and have fun, or don't and be a boring old &@£%&@!!

You also can wonder why your wive wants you away all those hours

The guys that have been around have said it all....

When accidents happen and for whatever reason they happen we standby and analyse the aftermath. It is every safe pilot's ambition to know what caused the tragedy as by human nature we are hungry to learn from it. There are those that wish to throw mud though but they are in the minority. We pound ourselves with what if's, why and I wonder.....

I yearned to fly my own plane for 40 years.... I was borne with wings in my blood and adventure in my feet! As Len correctly said - one acquires a sparkle in the eye which places you apart from other boring souls drifting towards their destiny. Me, I WANT TO FLY TO MY DESTINY because I'll be enjoying what I do whilst on that trip.... even if it be my last! The odds are however more in your favour flying and surviving than the trip in your motor vehicle to and from the airfield!

There is a movie that might change one's perception - check it out - FINAL DESTINATION - when the number is up, it's up!

Fly safe... (^^)

I went down to the coast on my motorcycle and i took the wife with for she enjoyes motorbikes and aircraft as mutch as i do. But let me get to the point ,on my trip down to the coast i had a bad experience with a taxi overtaking on a blind rise and if this was not a Bmw with ABS sure as i am telling this story i would have been a nother statistick cause i was driving with in the speed limit to. On my way back sure as hell the same thing happend so flying is not bad after all. After this inc a traffik cop pulled me off and as i had stopped i could not hear wat he wassaying cause the radio in his car was so loud i am sure he has some serius sound in that cop car we had to shout to eatch other. FLY :) ING WITH ALL IT RISKS ANY TIME

If you feel uncomfortable flying like me because of the silly season and bad wx, get back to the basics and start by flying the patch again when you have calm wx and is in no rush to be elsewhere. You can even invite an in structure with you without feeling embarrassed. JUST DO IT you have done it before and the guy laughing at you,............. He is the fool, not you. O yes and don't forget to now and then take a refresher course.
Growing old is far more dangerous than flying !!!
