Quite a few of my friends (private & commercial pilots) have ordered the new Bendix GPS and will get rid of the old GPS`s. Knew of at least one 196 and two Pilot III`s that will become available and maybe a colour 296.

Will let know when they are avaialble.

Sorry for the hijack!
The 196 comes with a data cable to connect to a computer fitted with a serial port.
My primary computer is a laptop with no serial port
Is there such a thing as a converter which allows one to plug this cable into a USB port?

Mogas,

Nice photo album! Also your hunting part. I believe I saw a panther did you chip them so you can follow them on Garmin GPS? I enjoy hunting as well but its getting more and more difficult to hunt. Have you ever been hunting from your plane?

Garmin 196 does not have the colours. Just safe a little bit more and go for the Garmin GPSMAP 296 full colour and you might be happy with the 196 but once you know the 296 you miss the colour and want to upgrade!
Regards

HI Cali,
Call Airborne and order a bracket for the down tube vhpy It has 2 pieces of elasticised Velcro and in seconds you can have it fitted or removed (^^)
It will cost you around AU$60 and keeps the GPS out of the way between the 2 pip pins with very good visibility.

No I never hunted from my plane but used it extensively in anti poaching ops and other game ranch management.
But those were the good old days in Zim before that d@#s Mugabe F%^&*d it up for every one. Also, I used a trike most of the time but also had a C182 for longer and heavier hauls. Wish I had an Explorer! it would have been the Daddy of bush planes up there.
