To the Pilot of OGC
To the pilot of the red trike OGC.
On the 3 Oct @ 0950 you flew low level over Cullinan Golf club.
I know you were in your rights and I understand the rules of where you can flow low level etc. Unfortunately, as much as I appreciate the view of any aircraft at low level, there are people that find it very annoying when the noise of an aircraft at low level disturbs them, when they are doing what they love (Playing golf).
Now we can go into a huge debate about where and how low you can fly etc, but I would suggest that you have a bit of consideration for people on the ground, before it becomes an issue.
I raised this quite a while ago as well, also a red trike although couldn’t see the reg.
Please be considerate.

That could have helped. He was low enough.
Pitching wedge should have done the trick to scare him a bit.
At least I can blame my k@k golf on him, but it is still very annoying.

I have always looked at golf courses as really good landing areas
I have, on more than one occasion, been very tempted to do a touch and go on a fairway but I think that some golfers might not find it quite as amusing as myself.

Well you have Cato Ridge Golf Course right next door to you Warren as temptation.
I landed on the 5th fairway once in the middle of a competition. Not by choice though I had an engine out. Guys were not amused until they found out I had done it in an emergency.
On a serious note I play golf as well and while it is nice to see the planes above at 500+ feet, it plays havoc with your game when they are lower.

Landing on a fairway is very tempting!!! You can always blame bad fuel if you get in the K@K!!!
Personally I would move next to an airfield to see traffic above me all day long, so unless people use the fairways for low level training the whole day I would say LIVE AND LET LIVE!!!!!!!

This is exactly the reason I decided to give up playing golf. THE FEAR OF BECOMING A HABITUAL MOANER!!!!
I truly feel very sorry for these people who use a forum such as this to gripe at anyone that is invading one's space. I suppose that the golfers who play at, or near, OTR email the chief of ACSA to refrain from allowing the aeries to fly on saturday morning whilst the club championship is being played.
GET A LIFE!!! how long does it take a trike to traverse the width of a fairway? Try playing at Germiston with aeries taking off or landing every couple of minutes from Rand.
I suggest that we do a mass flight to this backwater on Saturday and cover all 18 fairways.

ERPM has heavies going over almost in 3 minute intervals. I could not concentrate at all on my golf, in fact I wish I had my camera with me.

Just consider - if your flying bugs someone who loves flying, how much more will it irritate joe public?
Be considerate when you fly - it costs you nothing. Don't fly low level over people, or where people are working, or playing. Some people don't like it - and some WILL moan. When too many people moan, we get another regulation dumped on us.
So, if you want to fly low level, find a nice quiet spot where you won't bug anybody, and enjoy yourself there. There are plenty of places to fly without bugging anybody, so why fly low level over golf courses?

This is not the first time that there has been reports of low flying over Cullinan golf club-
It just amazes me why we still have some mindless idiots who put the rest of the pilots at risk in the Cullinan area -
I can assure you with the ex DCA folks who have been brought back to CAA I would prefer not to be caught by these fellows - Rather fly high without being a nusance to the public than have your licence revoked and or be called in to redo your Airlaw exam PPl style in front of a computer .
I attended a meeting last Friday at CAA boardroom where the CEO Capt Jordaan made it clear that the General aviation (planes
5700Kg and less )need to get their act together soon or face the brunt of the law.
The lawlessnes that exists in South Africa will be dealt with .

This is the second post in so many days that a new member or low poster of this forum has attacked the very essence of flying....
First the R/C post and now a golf post! I do not condone low flying from a safety point of view but there really different ways of airing your opinion. Might I add that only a percentage of pilots are on this forum and venting might not even reach the ears of the pilot concerned.
To be quite honest I think posters on this forum should be proactive in the promotion of aviation and the safety thereof and if not should rather push off to another forum!

I don't think we must criticize the people that complain, but rather the transgressors. Where else can these guys complain apart from reporting these guys to the CAA. I would rather them give the guys a warning on this forum than reporting them to CAA. According to me the air law states you should'nt be a nuisance to anyone and if anyone complains you have broken the law.
I do believe we must respect other peoples rights and show good airmanship.
