I would like to sponsor a video camera for the thurs evening talks, if some1 will accept responsibility for video work (Press record when it starts, reload at intermission, press record and stop at end. I did a couple, but I am just under too much pressure at the moment to get to them (Missed all since March)   . The couple talks I did make were awesome and it is a crime that these are not on record.

Hi All

Thanks for the Well wishes etc.
It is going to be a big challange to get the EAA to its former Glory but it is a goal i am going to try to achieve. (**)

What is the EAA you ASK ? ? ? ?

Here is the Brochure i am putting together

What is the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA). If you're a new member or a renewal, you're part of an organization of highly diverse aviation enthusiasts: from restoration experts and historians to leading-edge innovators venturing into space with modern technology; from do-it-yourself homebuilders to owners and operators of production aircraft; from ultralight and light sport aircraft flyers to jet owners; from the EAA Flyin spectator to the air show performer. But it isn't just our diversity that sets EAA apart from other aviation associations— it's our unique sense of community, as well.
The men and women in our vast aviation community uphold a members-helping-members approach to advancing each individual's goals. Those goals may be as simple as learning more about aviation and its history or as complex and ambitious as salvaging, restoring, and flying an antique airplane. Wherever your interest lies, you'll be pleased to find like-minded people who will take pride in helping you along in your aviation journey.
Building on its strong sense of community, EAA offers aviation enthusiasts ways to engage, exercise, and celebrate their passion for flight. EAA shares information and know-how, provides guidance, and lends a hand to individuals who want to become more active in pursuing their interest in aviation.
That is the begining of what we do. Problem is the focus of the EAA have not been so clear the last few years. I need to fix that. ##

About the Piss up - thinking of a night at the Dros close to Northriding or anywhere maybe @ a pub night at an airfield somehwere any ideas :?:  (**)

Congratulations Tailspin.

If you already look to where the EAA was a few years back, I am of the opinion that it has already made leaps and bounds over the past two to three years. I think one of the nuggets that EAA should be commended on are the talks held at their auditorium. The committee that had that vision and got it to implementation - well done. Pretty envious that I am not based in JHB to be able to attend those.

On that point is perhaps something that could be addressed is the outlying centres. Too often the national representative bodies focus only on Gauteng and the rest of SA is left to it's own devices. A revival of non Gauteng based chapters should be put somewhere on your priority list - if I can add my 2c

Good luck going forward Tailspin.

Hi Skybound

That is one of the issues i am looking at changing - i am going to try to get the talks recorded and then send a copy to the Branches all over the country so they can enjoy them too.

RV4ker i might just take you up on that offer i just need to volunteer somebody to take the vids like you said.

Dankie Tailspin, ek is jammer I should have come back sooner but under a bit of stress right now (Fighting Incompetence so I am, Hah!!!)

Leftseat came back to me and explained EAA as he understood it and your own post explained the rest brilliantly. I am most interested in this concept of regularly meeting as a group and exchanging thoughts, ideas and experiences and I hope that the idea is taken up seriously in Phalaborwa. Gauteng is just to far for me to attend - sorry :(>

Good luck Tailspin and if I can help in any way after I arrive, just ask mate !!!!

Congrats again! vhpy (^^) (^^) (^^) (^^)
Again, does the EAA control the laws that govern experimental aircraft?

BTW: Uncle Spuddy; EAA stands for Experimental Aircraft Association. Hope this helps! (^^)

At a local level, as they are one of the GA representative organisations, they will have input into the regulations - but certainly not control them. This is why it is important to belong to one of these organisations so that they can effectively represent your interests.

Hi Trikenut
The EAA forms more like a body that helps wanna be builders and people that have dreams of designing their own aircraft to get it into the Air.
The EAA are actually trying to get to a level similar to the Glider boys where it does control the Experimental side of Aviation but exactly how that will work i do not yet know but i know it is something that has been brought to the meetings a few times. Like putting control of aviation in the hands of the Aviators. there have been a few meetings already with the CAA but finding the right brain to talk to can get really difficult at times.

No do not start throwing questions at me - I will put out more info as i get it.
And yes Triking is still my first love. (**) (-)

Blus skies to all.

Hi George, on behalf of the EAA, a hoooooge big thank you for your generous offer, you're a star. Pierre Laubscher, the newly elected vice-president, has agreed to handle the videography. (^^) (^^) (^^)
