Headsets - some advice please

Postby Dish » Thu Jun 19, 2008 11:41 am

Hello Lads,

Im considering buying some new headsets for the Bantam. The ones I have are "pilot" and are decent but not fantastic.... can anyone recommend any middle of the range headsets that would work well in the Bantam. ??

suggestions ???

Dish stop being such a cheapskate and get a lynx system (**)

Speak to Paul Lintot (zulu1). I am sure that he will let you test his out.

Worth looking at the Buzzcom headsets. I have got the ones with volume on the headset, comfy and clear, and volume control works nice - for about R 1 300, a year ago . Dunno what they cost now. They're in Edenvale and their service is excellent - had small problem with my intercom system, that was fixed while I waited.

I got two sets with my plane, and while doing training both sets were always missing from the gyro. The instructors would have scaled them to use while flying with other students. When I got my license, and left, Josua said it's a pity, they gonna miss.........my headsets. (**)

I have used one or two other more expensive sets, and the buzzcom sets were better, in my opinion.

Not an expert on this, but based on personal experience I would contact Paul Lintott (ZULU1) for a solution. tried the Buzz stuff and had nothing but trouble which they could not resolve.
IMHO only and I can only speak from my own experience. Others may have different experiences.

I spoke to Paul regarding his system. Problem is, his headsets, intercom are all integrated. Cannot work with others.

A set of headsets and an intercom from Paul, is about the same price as a formal GA headset purchased from an aviation shop.
