300hr Stuff
Thought that this issue was going to be sorted by the end of this month? It is the end of the month and everything is very quiet!!!!!! I would like to fly or have my money returned. Then make a plan to sell or store the plane.
Skid,
seeing as your topic is 300hr related to "that" issue i might aswell open a can of worms:
Look at the rotax site www.rotax.com - you will see that the engines are catgorised eg: snowmobiles, jetskis and aircraft- obviously the 582 is in the aircraft catagory and thus draws a lot of attention on the CAA radar,- now if you look at some of the other catagory specs and performance you will find very similiar matches- just being "non aviation"......... what if the market now continued to use rotax (they are relaible and robust)- but from another catagory with less servicing requirements- eg i cant see a snow mobile only being allowed to be worked upon by an "approved person", nor a go cart....... would it not take pressure off us to select motors from another "catgory" with a "smaller" maintanance requirement from the same company for the MPL affordability future.
Secondly- there are plenty of "other" distributors in SA for the "other" catagories of rotax- eg Skidoo jet skis, some BMW motor cycles use bing carbs, Ducati and rotax have close relationships.......... and are all authorised distribtors/ mechanics for such............ so if i had eg BMW motorcycles service my 503 carbs, or Ski doo replace my 582 crank........ would this still be acceptable??- .......... there appears to be very few APs and companies that have accreditation as "service mechanics" as we know it- so perhaps its time to think outside the box here- ........
if they ("the other catagory agent") are approved for work by the suppliers on a a rotax jetski, motorcycle engine or go-cart- then why not a 503 or 582.......... this might be a booming new industry for the jetski, go cart and motorcycle industry to start servicing and supplying parts to the MPL comunity- they are available nationwide thus making them easily accesible to the MPL fraternity-..........
just a thought to ponder......
PS: since your front wheel fell off the challenger you can wear your forum name with pride

I hear you and agree with it all. But I was told by "THE" person that this was going to be extended by the end of March. My authority to fly has been refused as my plane has done 487hrs on my 503 motor. When I speak to friends in Gauteng they tell me its been sorted....So where's my authority to fly?
