A Magical morning.....

Hi Everyone,

Went flying early this morning and after a few windy days it turned out to be one of those perfect days, no wind, no turbulence and clear air with great visibility. Even on my way to the flying field the day started magic, first a jackal met me at the flying field gate, then a rabbit waited for me at the hangar ! When I took off a large buck (Not sure what it was) ran along the runway and I managed to follow it (at a respectful distance/altitude) till it stopped in the wetland bordering on Rhino park.

Magic !

This is the kind of flight that will be remembered for a long time, following rivers, checking out dams and landing strips....

Also met up with Henni in the air, looked like he was having fun as well :D

I had so much fun that I did not take many photos but here are a few.





Now I can only hope 2008 produces many days like this, for all of us :D

GREAT airplane in those pics

Honestly, this morning's flight was the best I've had in a very long time. Not a movement in the air! This is what microlighting is all about! I hope that these conditions would last for at least a while. If my leave could end in this fashion, I'll have sweet memories for quite some time. Thanks for sharing.

Flying & good friends.

Went flying with the Classic Windlass club -Superman,Echard(aka ?) & Basie. A general flight become 2 hours of pure pleasure.From Aeroden through Olifantsnek, Rustenburg (only to find the local club cleaner and many,many closed hangars) back to Aeroden.What a beauty.

Hi All

So Henni is the one engaging in low flying over the Bronkhorstspruit dam

Lovely photographs Rudix - actually if the imagination is used the Mizer over the dam photograph looks like a short Catalina with the high wing and fuselage shape (perhaps too much alcohol last night but I think it does).

As soon as my in-laws leave I should be able to join you guys and just hope that the weather remains good.

Nah, that was taken at 6000', look at the pic again and observe the size of the objects on the ground! This morning however, I did fly low at the dam, but not over it, but way to the south of it, not over houses, people, campers or any animals.

Yesterday, for the first time in many years, I started flying low again, but I take great care to avoid all of the above - no one will ever be able to acuse me of foolishness, I'm too old for that now. It must be addictive, cause this morning I flew low again all the way (Rhino then north of Bronkhorstspruit up to the mast towards Witbank, then back south past Bronkhorstspruit dam & finally back to Rhino) - what a thrill & stunning view. How I love grass root flying...

Rudi told me yesterday that he cruises 68mph at 5400rpm. Tried that rpm settings all the way in the Mizer today yielding a good 54mph (good at least to me )and using very little fuel.
