Hail in Durban? Again!?

Postby Fairy Flycatcher » Tue Oct 23, 2007 5:19 pm

David has lived in Umdloti since 1986, I moved here in 1995. Today is the 3rd time we have had hail in this time. All three occasions were in the last 12 months, and every time the hail stones were just a little bit bigger.

Today was a bit of a shocker! David was at Balllito airfield when it started coming down. He took some photos from the protection of the car. Hail in front of the hangars, one in his hand.

Eish... the weather is certainly becoming a bit scary

Hail in Durban? Again!?

Postby lamercyfly » Tue Oct 23, 2007 6:52 pm

And those hail stones were solid ice....... Not mush, but solid, frozen water........... I wuz in the '86 Merc., solid as a rock, and there are 2 lekka dents in the roof..........

What is going to be interesting is to see how the Raptor that was standing outside handled the stones :( ............. is a visitor down from Swaziland. I saw the Buster coming, and expected rain, so I tied a plasctic bin bag over his instrument pod and covered his air filter..........I had no idea we were in for a hail storm.. :(
