Newbie

Postby Blyzz » Wed Mar 14, 2007 4:18 pm

Hi there Everyone,

This is my virgin post. I'm not yet a pilot and neither do I have any form of wings.

I will get there and hopefully it will not take me that long, I've been flying in a Piper Cherokee with my father since before I can remember.

I intend to be based at FASH (Stellenbosch) once I get everything I need. Becuase I'm used to flying with a cockpit, I imagine that i'll be going for something along the lines of a Cheetah or a Jora. The idea of a motorised hang-glider makes me a little nervous.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get started? And also what sort of spending I'm likely to be doing once I actaully get started? :?:
If God had intended for man to fly, he would have given us more money.

I believe that Fisantekraal is also doing training on a Jabiru. All the schools have thier pros and cons. The instructors are all human beings so it is important to find the school and instructor that suits you. All of these schools have trained people on this forum. Some forum members have tried more than one of then schools. Some people on the forum will be more than happy to share thier experiences with you althugh maybe not on the open forum. You should also ask the schools for contact details of past students.

It also may be easier, more convienient or cheaper to do your training on a different 3 axis to the one you intend to fly. Conversion is short and sweet.

I fly a Rainbow Cheetah with a 582 motor & P-Prop. It has 975hrs total time and is still going strong. Excellent hours builder!

Also do time in a Jabiru J-160 and a J-400 and before anyone asks the question .... with a MPL.... the answer is NO, I fly PPL!

Hi all,

My name is Basil. Fly a Savannah out of GC at the mo, but hope to move to Summit airfield soon.

See below pics
Hi Basil - love the look of your plane! Saw you on the roudout the other day (about 4 weeks ago) whilst I was taxying out to the 35 runup area . I'm currently busy with my PPL at FTS from FAGC. I would also love to get a Savannah, but my 6'6.75" frame does not fit in so well

Currently focusing on finishing my PPL and dreaming of owning my own plane - Cheetah/Bushbaby Explorer being top of my realistic wish-list!

I am an ex Zimbo now living in Nelspruit, my current plane is a self built Bushbaby 500 which took almost exactly 3 years to complete. I hangar at Pyramid in the Barbeton valley.
Lovely looking plane Mogas! what motor does it have?
