Hi Guys,
I have been transferred to The Gambia in west Africa (from Mozambique) and now I want to get my trike up here so that I can fly. Believe it or not they have a club up here called Madox microlights. They currently have one 3-axis microlight similar to a Thunderbird and a C42 Ikarus. Apparently there is also a trike hangered at a place about three hours drive from Banjul, the capital, where I am stationed.
Does anybody have any experience or advice about freighting a trike between countries? What is the best option: air or sea, and what would it cost?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

When I was looking at the UK types last year. Freight was R30K for air and almost overnight (couple days). Trike not very "heavy" (bulky rather than heavy). Sea freight was far cheaper but took 4-6 weeks. Container from the USA was $6000, but I shared with 3 others so my share only $2K.
Maybe chat to Big G. He has just brought in a couple GT450's and he may know good shipping agent who knows how to pack it and could possibly give you idea on updated price.
(Mind you his are all inbound so may be no help, but worth a shot...)
