Guys
A lot has been printed on this forum on Demon's GT 450 until date.
My experience with this man and machine went as folows:
I ordered my Microlighters calender from the Scribe earlier this year, and Trixie agreed to keep it for me until I could collect it as it would most likely not arrive in a good condition if she shipped it to the US. I'm in SA for a few days, and on Friday the 2nd of March I called her to find out where I could collect it. She was on her way to Rietfontein to fly with Demon, and suggested that I meet her there.
Well, I had read so much about this unique gang of guys, and even more on this fantastic machine, and needed no better excuse to drive out there.
When I arrived there, a number of the local boys were pre-flighting their trikes for their Friday afternoon flight. Then the invite came from Demon: "Would you like to fly with me, Trixie can go with Ratman." Me: "Me? What a question, I'd love to."
This trike is absolutely awesome, and I'm still wondering how to convince the wife that this is a very necessary purchase to be made.
We took off just after 15h30 while it was 35 degrees C and flew for 1.6 hours. This thing covers more ground in this time than most other trikes will in half a day. The runways at Rietfontein are short, I'm heavy (110 kg) and the air is extremelly thin at that altitude and temperature. When the right foot pushes down on the accelerator this thing is propelled forward like a rocket, and is airborne in no time.
With the bar almost up against the profile tube it climbs at 400fps, cruise at 80 or better, bar in and we're doing 100mph! Best of all is sitting behind the windscreen, you almost cannot feel it. Stick your hand out into the airflow, and then you really feel the air pressure.
Absolutelly awesome, and a real nice bunch of guys.
Thanks again Demon, you made my day! And by the way, the calender is great too.
Regards,
Barry
