Mods comment - "Topic split and Moved here from flying events section - trust it OK"

Wingfield runway is supposed to be 1100m, and no notes mentioned about any obstructions

What is babe :?:

All my aeries have names (mostily animals) though none of my own doing. he RV4 is called the Meercat (US spelling thus the C and not a K). I got it like that. the Cubby has a lion cub (thus Simba) on the tail. When I bought the Albat the kids wanted to know what her name was..  . My fliegbedonered son heard someone call the Albat at the air race a Pigg. I though it abreviation for Piaggio (manufacturer), but turns out it comes from the designation of the aerie. It a Piaggio P166 Albatross. It is thus often referred to as a PIGG(PI66). Kids then decided that if she was a pig she gotta be Babe like in the movie. the little pig that goes a long way and thus Babe was "born".. Have not had time to have the nose or tail art done, but will follow in due course.

If the runway is wider than it is long, rethink your circuit.

Check discussion on Avcom..
http://avcom.co.za/phpBB2/viewtopic.php ... highlight=
I cruise at ±140ish kts burining 120-130litres/hr.
GSO480 Lycoming engines 340hp driving 3 blade full feathering hartzel props.
It has a stormberg fuel injected carburator so no leaning is required until FL180
MAUW 8130 lbs. Useful zero fuel load 2200lbs.
and it as easy to fly (when both dokeys are pushing) as the witchita training iron. When the fan goes off the pilot sweats.

I am loving it, but the Avgas price increases hurt. It takes 1050litres when you fill mains and tips, but that will get you 10-12hrs cruising at 55% power. With full tanks useful load is 500lbs. (Basically 2 crew and toothbrushes)

Never mind the q's. (Everyone loves talking about their pride and joy    )

Late 60's/early 70's model. The actual stuff is SAAF classified/lost/etc. Civvi logs only start in 1994. SAAF used them for maritime patrol and SAR. Based In CT and PE. Has HUGE range at low poer settings and with eng's at back is quietish ( ) and has great viz. Check www.p166.com for more info. Think there were 22 originally. Some came to grief, but most are now based in Gauties. (FAWB or FAGM) Mike Beachy-Head of Thunder City fame used a fleet to transport the post in late 90's. Think they were based in Bfn at the time.

This what she looked like in camo dress when based in PE. (There is one ona pole in PE Airport.)
