Hi Folks , just drained and cleaned ZU- DGB fueltank for the fourth time .
The problem floaters in the fuel .
It looks like wheat midlings (semels) . They dont clog the filter - changed four Mc Cedes filters , washed the tank, put in a length of chain , shook like crazy and its still there .
The tank has an orangy coulour - stain which is similar to a tea stain in a cup . (cold tea.
One of our students used LRP petrol and this seems to be the cause of the problem -
Some one else has the same problem on 95 unleaded .
I have spoken to a rep at one of the fuel cos who has assured me that it is ok as it is the additive settling out . I had an electric fuelpump and filter fitted , hooked up to a big battery and recycled the fuel for two day , no blocking of the filter , but the bloody stuff is still there .
Currently flying on avgas - ssems to be clearing - will try mampoer next -
Any comments - similar experiences - Microland has had a similar experience - Leprachaun
