second hand trike market

Postby RV4ker (RIP) » Tue Dec 12, 2006 3:34 pm

I see plenty of 503's for sale. Following LSB, Captain Bling Bling etc's posts regarding the slow market I have the following question?

Can a 582 or 912 be fitted to a standard 503 rig? (excuse the ignorance).

Cpt Bling has 2 503's
LSB has 1
Mapit has 1
Smiley has 1
Bennie had 1
Johann had 1
FF has 1
Seems than many (I include myself here) are allergict to 503's on the reef. I know there are those who swear by them, but it seems there are just as many that do not.

I worked as a used car salesman (for my pop many moons ago) and often if a car won't sell, change the mags, duco etc and it flies off the floor. Maybe same thing here. Is it practicle to fit a 582/912 to a smaller rig or is that a doff idea? What is for eg the difference between 503 & 582 aquilla? When is too much power a bad thing?

PS
Never seen a 582 Windlass though

The standard Aquilla, all have the same body and wing. I think there might be some extra brackets and shite to hold a 4 stroke, but the 503 and 582 are the same.

Except a bracket for the radiator.

IMHO - not worth upgrading.

And the oil injection? :?:

IMHO - not worth upgrading.

New motors are very, very expensive in any event.

Oh RV, your question, “When is too much power a bad thing”?

On flex wing – more power only affects pitch [unless you pull the bar in to compensate]. Standard trikes are meant to cruise at 50-55 mph.

I have seen a Windlass with a 582 (right side up nogal!) and at Microland I once saw a Windlass with a 912 installed - Bet you need a helicopter licence to fly it!!
