:D Hi to all that could not make the African Cup

Do yourself a favour and book now for next year !

I took off from laser airfield and joined up with my rietfontein mates at about 6.00 am and sorry toall for being late but i was drinking tea with flo momberg who kindley got up early to make sure i had some thing in my tummy before i took to the air

The weather was great and being late i had to pull a little bar to catch my mates otherwise the flying was great and the company even better what a good bunch of guys to fly with always thinking of the next prank or something funny they just kept me in stitches anyway it was a fun filled week end with the chat channel very quiet somebody kept asking anybody on chat !!! Gerry Hatrick not sure where his volume button is otherwise a week end to go down in the history books anyway thanks to all and Mike Blyth Rob Mc Fee and who ever for organising all it was really fantastic and will certainly be there next year

Cheers for now

How GAYLORD FOKKER came about

Postby Gaylord Focker » Tue Sep 26, 2006 5:39 pm

Along time ago when i started flying i met up with alot of new people namely the rietfontein gang and i got to meet Big G and the boys and they kind of thought that i batted for the wrong team a little to much on the femanin side anyway we have got past that now so that is where the GAYLORD comes into the picure.

2.I have a problem when i fly i cant fly straight so im always focking around in there buzzing off here and there and everywhere just checking whats potting and making sure things are where they should be on the ground and buzzing the locals when possible so there we go to set the story straight and therefor FOKKER GAYLORD FOCKER always focking around in the sky.

Anyway nice speaking to you BIG D wind your neck in the next time you think u can hear somebody buzzing your area it just might be GAYLORD FOCKING around your airfield

Now that you ask, Smiley Sweetheart, I guess we could try to fit something in... let's see now... whaddayasay Sept/Oct issue ;);)
BTW those great cool-hand-Luke ribbon-cutting shots etc were taken by Lara Scheepers (you see it's not only Werner who's a star in the making) who stepped into the breach while I was doing the KWK-step skydance with Demon proving that the bogrolls are not designed to tear off at the perforations :!: :D

Africa Cup 2006

Postby BIG-G » Tue Sep 26, 2006 6:12 pm

There is just something great about the Africa Cup. As long as its been at the Numbi Hotel in Hazyview. Its been a great fun filled family event. The perfect location with runway and all amenities close at hand. Great food, pub and pool area.

Next year there will be entertainment such as river rafting and Kruger tours for the non pilots.

For those who have never been. This is a must in your flying calendar.

Finally, just a thanks to all who attended. Thanks for all the fun and laughter. What a great bunch of people. :D

Keep on flying safe.

Hi guys, this event has been one of the top 5 highlights of the year. We had a great nav to Mac Mac, Lisbon, Bourkes Luck , Inyaka Dam and back. My wife was my navigator and she did well for our first long flight in a trike. She was shit scared of those mountains at Sabie and constantly wanted to know if we were high enough. Was great meeting all the other guys. Trix, keep it up might just write you that story one day.

I am just sorry I had to leave so sudden on Sunday morning. The trip back started off with great weather and the weather guys did not predict any bad winds until 11h00. I took of 06:45 and had a pleasant flight from Numbi to Kaapmuiden along the Kruger fence. At Kaapmuiden I turned east to Malelane. Approx 8miles from Malelane all hell broke loose.  A South easterly hit me from the side and it was gusting bad. I nearly dilocated my right shoulder. The gust was so bad that at times the nose of my windlass was nearly 90 degr on my direction of travel. If I couldn't pray. I defnately learn quickly. Landed at FAMN only just. Took me 15 min to Taxi 600 meters to the hangers. My pylon bend like a crossbow at times.

Continued the journey at 16h00 in the after noon. Wind still pumping at 18mph but at least it was east and that meant that it was straight on runway 11 Komatipoort. Great weekend and will definately do it again next year.
