What MUST I see?

Postby phislett1 » Tue Jan 26, 2016 3:00 pm

So I am starting my microlight training at Ballito Microlight School in the very near future, I know this is jumping the gun, but I plan to get my own trike and do long distance flights and perhaps tour SA. The great thing about this website is that there are pilots from all over the country who have seen some spectacular things.

If everyone who sees this recommends one or two views or areas that absolutely MUST be seen via the air, or one place that is absolutely worth flying over, that provides pilots with breathtaking views (and photo opportunities to show off to their friends), then that could go on my to-fly-over list  and could also help other pilots find such views and places and explore the surroundings for themselves. vhpy

A must-see is the Wild Coast, down to hole-in-the-wall. It's a beautiful, if barren, patch of coast, best seen from a low and slow aircraft like a trike. Some nice strips to pop into and stay over down that part of the world too.

I highly recommend the flight from pyramid near Barberton up the croc river along the edge of the Kruger park near malelane . Awesome game to view. Thanks again Merv for organising the trip.

You may not believe me...but everytime you fly you will see things you've never seen before.... :)

That's the beauty of it all Philip. (^^)

Its not always the stunning scenery along a coastline, mountain range or long and snaking river through a distant gorge...or a "destination" as such?

Sometimes its just the way the sunlight breaks through a cloud base.....or the early morning mist hiding a lake....or the indescribable smell that sneaks in under your visor when you're 15 ft above hectares of cosmos on a calm highveld morning... (!!)

I think that's why we all hate flying so much... (^^)

All the best for your training mate! (!!)

I think we can all agree with Bundy (^^)

Every flight is different and have their own highlights, and they can always come in different ways! vhpy
