Allan was killed on the 23 December 2015 in a paragliding accident at Bulwer. He apparently caught a nice thermal on take off and then fell out of it and was scratching around too close to the mountain for another one when a gust collapsed his sail and he went into an uncontrolled tail spin and hit the mountain and was unconscious when they got to him and despite attempts to resuscitate him he died.
Alan was well known in the Eastern Cape - he was a microlight instructor during the period 2000 to 2010 in East London and trained many of the local microlight pilots. Condolences to all his family and friends.
