This is the 3rd (fixed wing) he has built. Lancair 2 place (in the background of the picture), Lancair 4 place, a Compress helicopter (sold) and now the Carbon Cub. He calls it AIDS (Aircraft Induced Divorce Syndrome). He did his Cub (taildragger) rating at the factory in Oregon. Took 13 hours and 72 landings to complete. No one else has flown his Cub. He now has 14 hrs on his own cub. Cograts boet...s023

Al, some are just born with it. His passion is flying...his poor eyesight caused him not to qualify for commercial aviation. So he studied Elctronic Engineering....to fund his passion. No dependants and living in the states gave him all the opportunities to live his passion. His house is next to his enormous hangar which is in an Airpark...Mogalon..Arizona. ($$) ($$)

Must be in Germany. I have seen them lay a pipe under the road, in Frankfurt, in one day. By knock off time they are finished, including the re-taring. !!!!

After talking to my Dad about his flight last week, my Mom, also 90, decided she wanted to also try it. My Dad tried to disuade her, but I felt, "lets try and see" if she can get into the seat and sit in it, then we will be ok. "Can't have Oupa going for a flight and not me" I gues she must have thought.

Yesterday afternoon was nice and stable, so off we went. She got into the seat with very little assistance. After giving her a very loud and slow pre-flight briefing we taxied out....very slowly. Oupa and Dionne, were ground support with cameras and the backup radio. We did touch and goes and flew around the tower for about half an hour. All of which was with very..very gental flying...Dionne had warned me.." no steep power off stall turns, like you normally do, OK!". I landed extra smoothly and taxied back to the hangar. Apparently my Dad was the nervous one. "Are they going to land now", "where are they going now, "I can't see them any more" and so on... Areme Oupa. All smiles we taxied into the hangar and I helped her out the plane.

"En nou Ma het jy did geniet?"...."GENIET, dit was die beste dag hierdie jaar". "Dit is volmaakte vlieg". "Ek kan goed verstaan hoelom julle so mall is daaroor"

I think my Dad want's to go again. He seems to be less nervous in the plane...shame...it is so cute.. xxx

It was my Mom's 90th birthday on the 23rd of September....weereens, gelukige verjaarsdag Ma. xxx xxx

Well done Paul especially to your folks. I'm trying to convince my mother-in-law but she is convinced that I have ulterior motives. (-)

Special times Paulie.... (^^)

To have both your folks looking so healthy and fit at 90 is a blessing in itself.... and to be able to share the magic of an open cockpit with them is truly memorable! vhpy
Definitely a "Kodak Moment" that! (^^)

We're back from the Land of the Silver Mist after an awesome weekend away. Was nice to catch up with ol Asterix there too! 8) He sends his regards to you all! :)

Don't forget the meeting with Hans this weekend guys, 10h00 on Saturday.

If anyone still needs the Agenda then mail me....

It was very special. We framed some pictures and a collage for each of them as a gift. xxx

Thanks Louis. You know.....there has been incidences where, in a radical maneuver, the seat belt fails. ##
