BALLOONING !!

Postby Chaz » Wed Jul 05, 2006 10:22 am

Heya Folks :!: :!: :!:

Booked myself and the missus the 22nd July for a Balloon Safari with Bill Harrops. Anyone here ever done it before as it's a first for me as well. Birhday present for the missus. Apparently, so im told the "Peace" and "Tranquilty" is out of this world. Also it's the oldest known method of man getting his feet off the ground. :D :D :D

Beleive the Shuttle takes a back seat when it comes to lift off :D :D :D

Chaz its amazingly quiet. You kinda just drift along. Peaceful like.
Then try jumping out of it! 8) Just sit on the edge of the basket and fall out. The lack of flying speed when you exit just 'blows you away!'
:D :D :D :D :D
PS - Just as well Carmen's not going she may try exiting half way!
PSS - Don't try the above without a parachute.

Chaz, I did it a couple of months ago here in the Natal Midlands. It was very expensive, we had to assist with the set-up and packing away and the actual flight was only about 30 minutes. I wasn't impressed for the price paid. I hope you are not as disappointed as I was!

Wart ??

You serious Wart    Cause you right it's not cheap although Bill Harrops guarantee a minimum flight of 50 minutes. Anything less they will do a pro-rate refund or short flight at a later stage. They also include a full English Champange breakfast.

They have teams that set up everything cause there in no way i will pay that kinda money to work. I WONT MIND FLYING IT FOR HIM THOUGH. What i find cute though is the "citation for bravery" certificate you recieve afterwards. :D :D :D

Sent my parents up for their 40th anniversary two weeks ago. A lot cheaper here in Oz compared to what I remember being quoted in SA. One and a half hour flip followed by a full breakfast in one of the local restaurants. They had to help with the rigging and with folding up the balloon afterwards but this took maybe 10 minutes or so each time. Daar is nie "wuckers" hier nie om dinge vir jou te doen nie!

They loved every minute of it. Couldn't believe the quiet (when the pilot wasn't firing the burner) up there. My mum wants to become a balloon tourist now!

We travelled with the ground crew for the duration of the flight. The crew chief asked me if balloon pilots in Afica carried guns with them. I answered that I didn't think so as most ballooning happened away from built up areas. He looked at me strangely and I then realised that he meant did they carry guns for the wild animals!!!!!!

Heya Folks :D :D :D

The BALLOON trip was absolutlely stunning. Bill Harrop himself was our pilot and he is a very skilled balloon pilot, pilots the balloon around like few guys could with there aeries. Apart from that the man is a absolute scream a laugh a minute type of guy.

Overall a magnificent experience with a delicious brekfast. An unforgettable experience and i would reccommend it to anyone. I now have a "citation" for bravery and courage :D :D :D
