My son, Kevin, wants to join us at elands if possible. He will be riding through on his Motorcycle, but unfortunately will not be of much use as a backup for me. We will sort food etc for him, he will bring along his camera equipment for some in flight photography.
If accommodation is fully booked, he can bring along a tent if needed.
I will contact you later in the week.
It's no prob....we had two spaces left so he can take one of those beds. (^^)

One space left!

What I suggest we do is the following:

As you know, oom Paul is supplying us a brekkie/brunch when we get there so we just need food for the evening essentially....

Stef, myself and Gavin will be driving through with a bakkie. I will bring us food, braaipacks, garlick breads, and some potato salad for the evening braai. If you want me to bring some beers etc etc for you too then just let me know what you want and I will buy it for you.
You guys can sort me out with cash when we get there. (!!)

All you need to fly with are your clothes and some fuel if you can fit it on.
(If fuel is a prob then I can also bring 2 x 25L jerry cans with if you want me to?

Lets try and avoid having to drive to town when we get there...
I will chat to the Kroon guys and sort them out as well.

Prop went in for surgery today...let's see what happens....but for now we are definitely driving in.
Hold thumbs for the weather....looks perfectly flyable at the moment. (!!)

There is a slight chance we may still be able to fly in to Elands....but we will see. Depends on if we get the prop back tomorrow or not.

I have got the drinks orders for:

Andries and Kevin
Fanie and Stefan

I just need to know what the Kroon gang need please?

Weather still looks fine for flying (!!) ..... Last chance to cancel boys?.....I will be buying the food/supplies for us tomorrow. (^^)

If Stef and I can end up flying there, we will send the supplies by car with our mate Gavin. (^^)

Maybe it will be a good idea if you put the following co-ords in your GPS.
Orabie dam wall.= S 24 46 47. E29 25 31.
Marble Hall.
Groblersdal.
The above is about a 1hr 30 min flight. ( With a trike.) Dont worry about fuel we will organise something, I got cans and Jimmy,s has a drivers lisence.
Alles is ge-organise, spring in julle aeries en kom.
Ek moet nog net vir Magajan leer om eiers te bak.!!! (^^)

Indeed....I am really looking forward to this trip! vhpy

Windguru is still very favourable...indicating a slight tailwind to Loskop on Sat....Sunday we will have a headwind home but still well within limits here. (!!)

For the Microland manne....I will be routing as follows:
FABA to Elands via Loskop.jpg
It would appear we are 3 trikes flying from MLand... 2 x Aquilla's.....1 x GT450

Will take off FABA, route between Rhino and Zynkraal (Freq 125.4 SRE) and head towards the Eastern side of Rhenosterkop. After a brief period on GF2 (124.4) we change to Country (124.80) and route all along the ridges direct towards the Northern side of Loskop Dam Nature Reserve. (1500ft AGL over the reserve). Once overhead the dam, we will change direction NW and route direct to Elands Camp from there.

The total flight will be approx. 88NM

Elands Camp : Runway 400m dirt, roughly 04/22, Elevation: approx. 2900ft
S 25 01'58.55"
E 29 07'59.42"

Alternates:

Groblersdal: S 25 11'10.46" E 29 24'13.48"

Carpe Diem: S 25 08'57.94" E 29 16'03.84"

Raasblaar Lodge: S 25 04'48.72" E 29 18'06.79" (Caution! this is where there was an accident due to a cable across the runway...check!!!)

Please check the above co ord's yourselves for accuracy! (!!)

We will be rolling from FABA at 06h30 sharp. Flying almost directly into the sun towards Loskop unfortunately chaps so don't forget your shades! ^

Going to be a great flight, cant wait. (^^)
