Temp export of microlight to Namibia.

Postby Biggles » Sun Jan 05, 2014 10:15 am

So looks like I might be transferred to Namibia. OPeration near Otjiwarongo for a few years. And I am keen to actually be able to fly for a change. Work has kept me out of the skies for over 6 months now!!

What would I need? New Pilots licence? New ATF? Register in namibia?

This is a first pass to see if anyone has any experience with this on the forum. So at feasibility stage!! Many end up not going but I can dream.

Hi,

Will find out for how long DCA can issue an overflight clearance for you.

Regards
Hanno

Thanks Dunesand!! After posting my first message I did some digging and discovered the forum has a Namibian Microlight insider. I was going to bother you when I had more solid information.

Hi Biggles,

Ok, I have some feedback for you.
For foreign registered aircraft you would need a Overflight and Landing Clearance for Namibia stating when and where you will be flying - we can help you with that.
This clearance however is only valid for 30 days but you can re-apply for it many times over without too much fuss. If there are a period during which you will not be flying and the foreign aircraft will be hangered somewhere not needing a clearance therefore, our DCA also would just like to be informed accordingly.
It is a bit of a schlep but at least you will be legal all the time.

I hope it helps.

Keep well and regards.
