Postby Bundy » Wed Jul 24, 2013 11:22 am

Hey all,

I was at a client of mine who smoused me a great little gadget. I'm very happy with this and thought I'd share it with you...

Its a Solalamp...and fits easily into your saddlebag. 8)

Combination Torch, radio, cellphone/ipad/iphone/gopro charger. Charges from the sun, crank or 220v power supply.

I think it could be very useful... cost R360.

Check it out...I'll bring mine along to Microland to show the guys on Sat. (!!) There is a video at the following link:

A Solar powered torch? How does that work? You don't need a torch when the sun is shining.

Great idea Alan. Seen them being used by other guys when in the bush/bundu. These okes are permanently moving them around to keep them in the sun, full time job. I'd rather look at the birds. I charge my lantern, cell pnone, iPad, iPhone etc. from the car battery. It has a 110 AH battery and 170 Amp alternator, day or night. If away from my car, on a hike, I take spare batteries for my head lamp and my hiking GPS (the Titanium ones last a week in my CREE "nerd" (head) lamp). On a hike, I seldom take my other gadgets/stuff with, and if they go flat it makes no difference. When in the bush and my vehicle does not drive every day I take my dual battery with, mainly for the fridge. After 2 or 3 days when it goes flat I start the car and at 170 amps the battery is fully charged in 20 minutes. vhpy

My 2 c worth. But each one to his own. ($$) I have seen the solar powered lamps for sale at the Chinese shops in Centurion. They are realy cheap there.

HAHAHA guys you got to listen to the video on the web page -- im buying one of these simply because it can charge and IPAD (no car charger is able to charge an IPAD) but in the video, he mentions that last way to charge the unit assuming you dont have arms .... HAHAHAHA if you dont have arms, how you gonna plug the unit in?? let alone use it ....

humour guys humour.... haha vhpy vhpy

Turbo, I have a car cigaret lighter charger for my iPad and iPhone. I bought it from Discem. There is also one available from any Apple store. The charger must have a rating of 2.1 Amps or more, at 5.1 volts. The other way I charge my iPad in the car is with the wall charger and my 12 - 220 volt invertor. Works perfectly. With the invertor I can use any of the original wall chargers to charge the device.
