Misasa Newsletter Feedback please

Postby Bundy » Wed Jul 10, 2013 6:16 am

This morning, you should all have the 5th edition of the Misasa Newsletter in your respective inboxes.

Please do not blacklist the IP adress as spam gents...it is not spam! If for some reason you do not wish to recieve it then please just indicate this to John via return mail and he will take you off the mailing system. But be warned that you will therefore not recieve any other Misasa correspondence either...

I would appreciate some constructive feedback from you on it's content, layout and readability so far. It is a working progress guys and it is imperitive that I get feedback from you to make sure it becomes a quality product in the long term.

I would sincerely like some assistance from you in the form of news to publish.

1: Club News! Please send me a paragraph on your club's activities in the month so I can include this in the NL. It does not need to be a formal club...for eg... the Tailwinds is not a formal club...but exists nonetheless! (^^) Tell me where you went, who went with and pic or two and I will gadly share this with the membership...many of whom do not frequent the forum. Misasa wants to put a lot more emphasis on club activities and this social side to our sport is great for promoting recreational flying.

2: Safety concerns. Send these to me so I can notify our members of any potential hazards or dangerous practices perhaps?

3: Up coming events! No need for me to explain here...send me the date and activity planned and I will publish it. 8)

4: LSA/CCM news. Guys...I r a samoosa driver...My knowlege on fixed winged flying machines although growing, is limited and I would really appreciate some help with news and content on the Fixed wing side of things. Please send this to me (see address below) and help me make the NL more representative of ALL the aircraft that Misasa represents.

Please post your comments or suggestions here or e mail me at pro@misasa.org

I really am trying to make the NL an informative, factual, but laid back voicepiece for our ARO. I hope I'm slowly getting on the right track... :)

Please give me feedback/content guys (^^).

Regards

Hi Alan,

What a FANTASTIC publication. Many thanks for the efforts of all involved.

Some ideas .....
1) An airfield listing with a contact number for emergencies. (Difficult to Maintain, I know.)
2) AP / AMO Listing.
3) What about a congratulatory "Solo Wall"? (It would be interesting to see at what rate the sport is growing)
4) Monthly Photo competition.
5) A "Wooden Spoon Award" A light hearted award for the twit of the month.
6) A monthly downlaodable desktop wallpaper or calender.

Keep the comments coming. The e-mails I have received, I will forward to the relevant persons, the other matters will be discussed on a committee meeting. We sincerely appreciate the positive feedback. Just a heads up.... Alan Mac went to the printers yesterday and I don't have to tell you what that means?

Nice layout and informative. Well done for your efforts.

Would love to know the dirty on the Upington ATC saga.I thought from the planning and when I was on frequency everything went reasonably incident free.

Anyway, can't expect 50 odd aircraft departing and returning in one morning without some non standard ettiquette. That is what recreation flying is all about and I believe a huge chunk of our fees were for landing fees so let the boytjies earn their otherwise easily earned salary.

Any further complaints from them and we will arrange them as ATC for the next Kitty Hawk fly in or Heidelburg airshow fly in with " One of twenty microlights 5 miles inbound from Microland "

The Upington saga only touches on the Bundu Bash. The issues emanating from there go back to aircraft flying to and from Namibia from the beginning of the year or pilots that have used Upington for other flight purposes. In general, the consensus is that the issues were only experienced with the OIC of the tower and not the other ATC's!

To the other chaps that possibly have not received the newsletter, I am sifting through a list of rejected mails due to them either being full, not valid, recipient unknown or REJECTED BECAUSE YOUR IP HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS A SPAMMER..... I will use a different SMTP to send those out.

To all those that have thanked and complimented - on behalf of the committee - thank you!

Bundy does all the hard work of compiling, begging for content and typing up.... I format and add the ADMIN & COMMS bit, pdf and mail and then mop up the blacklisting fall-out. Alan McKenzie and I have spent hours on hours with the misasa.org hosting company trying to resolve a persistent spam & phishing listing we have inherited. E-mails to many spam listing companies that we have to try and convince to remove....

The current MISASA committee is really trying to make the difference (^^)

I agree with Bobthebuilder....

To include this info is dependant on what you chaps provide Bundy.

Items 1&2 is a different kettle of fish (would like to have a current list of instructors too!!!)
Items 3,4,5 easily included in the newsletter
Item 6 we can provide a downloadable link in the e-mail notification , here and on the Facebook page....

Hi Allan and JB.. my opinion? Keep it simple. A digital newsletter, a supplement to the Magazine. I have revisited it twice, and still have not managed to sift through it all... Airfields, Ap's etc., well, I don't think that's for a newsletter..

We already have this forum, microlighters, to do all the other stuff.. so keep the newsletter just that. A newsletter.
Thanks and good luck.

I will help by sending you guys some stuff from this neck of the woods..

cheers.

Thanks Dave...

The airfields, AP's & Instructors I would say once we get that started that it be hosted on the website - but that in itself is almost an impossible task if you take it how long we have been embroiled with the membership database. Therefore a different kettle of fish :-) I'm sure with major effort and assistance from both Aeroclub and RAASA we can resolve the latter 2.

The KISS principle works wonders... we retain contact with informative content and then when the mag arrives, you have something to have some me time on the loo

But as said, titbit content to fill the newsletter is important - club news, airfield news, we did this, we learnt this from flying there, had a lekker braai with likeminded aviation nuts etc...
