For front brake nothing: you take of your drum brake and install hydraulic one on. Maybe 500 gramms extra.
For rear brakes it will be about 1.5 - 2 kg extra.
The master cylinder, disks and calipers are very light and compact. They are from off road bike "Zooka".
But they work. We made recently rear brakes for Raptor 582: full power, trike stands still, just start to slide on the grass with blocked wheels.

Thanks Jenya. Can the cart design handle the extra forces resulting from stopping the Trike in a "shorter" distance?

Requirements for the trike (undercarriage=cart) are the same as for the wing:
+6G = 2700 kg ultimate force positive
-4G = 1800 kg negative
Front fork and main gears must hold impact if hit the wall on speed 15 km/h with full loading (450 kg take off weight)
There is a requirement for the side impact as well (sorry I don't remember the numbers)
All this are checked when they do static tests of the trike.
Maximum overloading you can reach if you push brakes hard is to block the wheels and trike will slide on surface.

I would not fly trike which collapse if I push the brakes vhpy

This seems fabulous!!!

Jenya, please feel free to use my video (Landing on a Wet Grassy Runway) as a marketing tool. No cut needed!

I LIKE . . . . so I will have to budget for this conversion.

Q: Obviously it is an either front OR back brakes, not both, right?

Thanks,

Hi there

I just received the photo from Indonesia from the pilot who flies Aquilla 912.
We have supplied set of rear brakes to him 2 months ago.
He is very happy with these brakes.
This is the picture and comments from him.
His name is Jez O'Hare.
He is professional aerial photographer and flies a lot.

"Your brakes are amazing, I'm so happy, feels so good and safe. I will take photos soon. Why don't you offer to Solowings as an upgrade kit also! Its so clear they are safe. I will recommend if necessary."

Hi Jenya,

I asked this question in my previous post. Can you update me please . . . .

Q: Obviously it is an either front OR back brakes as hydraulic, not both, right?

Many thanks,

Yenja,

Does it work with brake fluid, or with ATF oil?

In addition to Boets question...

Can the wheel spats still fit on after the mod?
If you only want to do the back brakes....does one completely remove the old front drum brake? Looks neat Jenya. :)

It works with brake liquid.
The wheel spats will fit easily. The bracket, which we make, has 2 holes on the same place to fit wheel spats.
if your order just rear brakes you can keep your existing front brake. the new pedal which we supply is very identical to original Aquila pedal.
It still has holes (on the same place) to connect the existing front brakes.

Old mechanical drum brake is still attached and works.

We use copper pipes for hydraulic harness to increase reliability.
Only short piece of plastic pipe next to front fork.

We are busy now to put all wheel brake system on John's Aquila trike.
We will even try to put extra brake pedal for instructor as well.
I am not sure if it was done before by somebody else.
I will send pictures when it is done.
