Ignorance

Postby Blue Max » Wed Oct 17, 2012 5:29 pm

On more than one occasion I had a good laugh when persons admiring my trike-flying had something to say or ask.
One lady I took for a flip and who are a frequent visitor to the farm invited us to her house in Edenvale and were prepared to come and fetch us at Oliver Tumbo once we land..
On another occasion, after telling one of the guest,s that I am planning to visit my daughter in Canada, she wanted to know if I was planning to do the trip in my trike.!!!
Strangely, both were women :| :|
Dit laat n mens dink..(drink.)

Lekker nou gelag BM.

I am often asked (always after rotating off the deck! )...

"So Al...how long have you been flying?"

To which I always answer...

"Not very long....I'm planning to get my licence done real soon..." (**)

LOL

The 3 most common questions I get is

1. Do you need a licence to fly a microlight? To which I answer - Nah, my one friend told me what to do and showed me with a broomstick, I then played a bit of flight simulator on the PC and up I went

2. How high can those things go? To which I answer - Higher than the Magalaies mountain, any higher and I get sacared and close my eyes so not sure

3. Do you need a hanger? Nah, I just keep it in my shed next to the lawnmower and my mountain bike

After joking around, I obviously enlighten the individuals about our beloved sport

I love the "What if the Engine stops ?"

I then promptly say "Like This" and cut the motor - then proceed to glide to a nice soft landing.

Note to self should only be done over the field where you have practiced these landings often. (**) (**) (**)

A petrol attend starts.

"Why so much petrol, is it for a lawnmower"?

"No",

"For what"?

"Aeroplane".

"Hau. Can you fly to Jo'burg"?

"Yes. Twice as fast as your car with no toll fees"

"Hau. Does it have a hooter"?

"Why do I want a hooter"?

"So that next time you fly over here, you can stop and press the hooter and I will run out and wave 'hello"

True story :)

Pilot to pax: "Please don't touch that button, I haven't yet figured out what it does".

Nice ice-breaker.
