Free 5-Star Weekday Accommodation in the Magalieberg!

Postby John.com » Thu Jul 12, 2012 9:32 am

Fellow Aviators!

My "other business" is running a small exclusive lodge on my farm, which is very close to Pecanwood Golf Estate, on the Witwatersrand Mountains, the ridge to the south of the Magaliesberg and on the southern shores of the Hartebeespoort Dam.

Eagles Eyrie (http://www.eagleseyrie.co.za) is 5-star rated self-catering and has been operating for 5 years.

Perched on the mountain, it has an 'Out-of-Africa' bush theme, has a private boma, kitchen and dining room along with a private heated pool!

However, whereas weekends are typically always booked out, my weekdays (Sunday - Thursday) are more often that not open.

So my offer to all fellow aviators is this . . . . . if you are flying into or visiting the area and need a place to spend the night or even if you live in Gauteng or North West and would like to take your spouse for a romantic night or two away, drop me an email (john@eagleseyrie.co.za) and I will gladly accommodate you - NO CONDITIONS ATTACHED!

Clearly a little "post-stay marketing" to family and friends is always appreciated!

Remember: ONLY food and drinks needed - EVERYTHING else is there (even charcoal, firelighters and firewood) - the local Spar (with Tops) is only 4km away!

Also, if you are visiting by road, an early morning aerial tour of the Magaliesberg on the Beautiful Seductive Temptress is not out of the question!!

Standing by! (^^)

Hi john,

Once again the aviation fraternity Always seems to be giving!

We will definitely take you up on your offer! Do you have a landing strip and would you be able to take about 10 people (5-7 trikes and fixed wings) on a weekend stay? We are from Panorama and have frequent "fly-aways" to places like Lekoa Lodge and the like, and would love to join you on that side of the "Mountain"

Thanks again'

Henry.

Hey Henry!

If it wasn't for a unknown tribe called the Makgoreng and the land claim they slapped on the whole Broederstroom valley (R800m  ) I would have ten times the number of units available and a completely different business model!!

6 years ago, after having got to the stage of reticulating for 5 units, we had this land claim slapped on us by this tribe, which came with the obvious financial risks of spending money on a property that may not be yours in months or years to come! So, long story made short, I built ONE unit and stopped there! The upside to guests is that the experience is VERY unique as you are the only unit on the mountainside! Everywhere else you go, at some stage you have people looking over your shoulder!

So, my response to friends, and so now to fellow aviators, most unknown (!), when asked what they should bring, is this: "A cooler box of food, a cooler box of drinks, and a costume if you're boring!"

So, no, we cannot accommodate a gaggle, but you and your spouse would be most welcome!

Do let me know. (^^)

Oh, one warning . . . . our Great Dane is quite friendly, here on a guests lap!
