Headsets

Postby Deck Landing » Fri Apr 21, 2006 9:04 pm

Hi i am new to all this as i have only just obtained my licence from La Mercy, i was lucky to stay with ZULU 1 for a few weeks and saw for myself all the hard work that Paul puts into the headsets. He is always open to constructive critisim and has used it to perfect some outstanding equipment which i was lucky to use during my training and which i found to be excellent, i can only reccomend it to you all. Nic.

I wanted to fly in to Wonderboom for the EEA airshow earlier this month. Two things kept me from doing that: uncertainty about the weather and poor quality communication with my old radio and headsets. I did not want to risk flying in busy airspace without proper two way communication , and took the safe and boring option of driving to the airport.

The next Sunday was the Rand -Jozi airshow which I wanted to attend as well, but this time the expected weather was good and the euge to fly even greater. One problem remained however : radio still not working properly. Paul Lintott at Air Magic was preparing two new headsets, a powersupply for my Icom A 5 ,a Chatterbox and two new helmets for me. There was not sufficient time for delivery , so I dispaired at the thought of again missing out on the opportunity to fly in to an excellent airport and airshow.

Paul came to the rescue however when he phoned me on the Saturday informing me that they were on route to JHB International and he will deliver my new stuff. We met at Rand , and after a brief introduction to the equipment I was on my way home. Early the next morning on my flight to Rand (in a trike) I had the opportunity to test my new equipment , and was delighted with the quality. Requesting a radio check from an aircraft flying a 100 km away resulted in the following : "DKG I read you a crystal clear five out of five" . The talking at Rand also went without a hitch.

The quality of the equipment is very good , the service is friendly and efficient, and the prices are reasonable.

Thank you Paul.
