Precious Aviators, today marks the start of the festive holidays for a lot of you, and some will be taking to the skies with their loved ones to a holiday destination.
First of all I would like to wish all of you a blessed, safe and happy time but most of all I urge all of you to be responsible when you go flying, driving, boating, biking etc. Please think about your loved ones, families and friends before you make that decision.
I promise all of you that your loved ones would not mind seeing you a day or two later or arriving somewhere a day or two later rather than having to deal with loss and sadness because they lost their loved ones.
I have just witnessed firsthand again how easy one can lose your life in my recent MVA, and am just so grateful that I was protected by the grace of my Saviour.
If you ask me why I am writing a message again, when clearly this is the last thing most of you want to hear after a long and hard year, the answer is pretty simple!
TO SAVE A LIFE!
My prayer this year is a little different and I would like to share a poem by Don Merrill, and ask all of us to look out for our precious Aviators and friends.
Most of us had an incredible tough year and the sadness and loss is all around us!
Should we then not try with everything in our power to make a difference for the rest of this year and the years to come?
“I could have saved a life that day,
But I chose to look the other way.
It wasn’t that I didn’t care;
I had the time, and I was there.
But I didn’t want to seem a fool,
Or argue over a safety rule.
I knew he’d done the job before;
If I spoke up he might get sore.
The chances didn’t seem that bad;
I’d done the same, he knew I had.
So I shook my head and walked by;
He knew the risks as well as I.
He took the chance, I closed an eye;
And with that act, I let him die.
I could have saved a life that day,
But I chose to look the other way.
Now every time I see his wife,
I know I should have saved his life.
That guilt is something I must bear;
But isn’t’ something you need to share.
If you see a risk that others take
That puts their health or life at stake,
The question asked or thing you say;
Could help them live another day.
If you see a risk and walk away,
Then hope you never have to say,
“I could have saved a life that day,
But I chose to look the other way.”

My precious friends, this is my simple pledge this time!
To all our precious friends who lost loved ones, family and friends this year and for whom this is an extremely difficult and sad time, you are and forever will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Remember the Heksie love you all dearly and pray that you will be protected under His wing, and I wish you love, laughter and happiness with your loved ones, families and friends! That is how it is supposed to be!
Take care and fly/drive safe!

Re: HEKSIE's HOLIDAY MESSAGE
Bless you Heksie
I say again, there ARE angels that walk among us, I suspect you are one of 'em. I echo Bundy and everyone that knows you.
I am going to print this poem and put it up in the school and hangars. Perhaps Santjie will be kind enough to autograph them for me one day?
Have a wonderful festive season.
Fly safe.
