Greetings Everybody,
I was kindly requested to repeat the following post which is an initiative started on Avcom a few weeks ago.
I think all aviators should know who Santjie White is, but for those who don't she is our little angel who assembles and co-ordinates the rescue teams and comes looking for us when we get up to mischief or just lose our way in the air.
The idea is to raise funds towards the expenses of the Rescue volunteers who drop everything in order to assist with Search and Rescue missions.
Please read through the post - Donations can be made to the account at the top of the post. (For ease of reference in future)
Best Regards,
Rob
This post is split from the Santjie White - Appreciation Fund on 123.45 here: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=82767 - for more exposure.
Not sure yet where it should live.
This fantastic initiative by Alan Lambert has produced more questions than answers and was getting a bit bogged down in the proverbial red tape.
I have had a long discussion with both Santjie, Alan and Chris to try and get it back on track and do what it was originally supposed to do.
So this is what we dreamed up.
We would like the SANTJIE WHITE FUND (honouring our beloved Santjie) to become an ongoing fund.
The fund will become a sticky (with Chris' approval) and will be funded in part by donations from any source at all and for whatever reason at all.
BUT and here's the BIG BUT - we would like ALL AVCOMMERS (and MICROLIGHTERS) as well as any other aviator you know to consider donating to the fund whenever they are guilty of a slight, or even not so slight transgression of good airmanship, that may have potentially required Sanjtie and her team's attention.
SO - if you feel you have started the dreaded chain of events and managed to either break it or were just lucky to get away with it - well thats DONATION TIME.
Maybe you sneaked under some clouds or God forbid were VFR on top for a while - well that's again DONATION TIME.
Maybe you edged of the runway just before the fence on a hot summers day - you guessed it - DONATION TIME.
Also maybe you argued that your GPS was all you needed to navigate with on Avcom - DONATION TIME.
So bear in mind what the implication and cost of a bad outcome could have been and keep that in mind when deciding on the size of your donation.
This is in no way compulsory offcourse and is entirely at your discretion and in keeping with your personal values and level of integrity.
You are welcome to post your reasons for the donation but are absolutely not expected to - all anonymous donations will be happily accepted.
THE FUNDS RAISED
All funds raised will be made available to the VOLUNTEER RESCUE RESOURCES headed up by Santjie.
These funds will only be used for Rescue Resources such as Climbing Ropes, Equipment and repairs etc which are all very expensive items and do have limited lives.
The distribution of the funds will be entirely at the Volunteers discretion but will only go towards items and equipment necessary for the Rescue operations and no funds will be used for any personal or individual's benefit.
Hopefully I have covered all the bases but if not feel free to make suggestions.
Please keep in mind that the services supplied by all the Volunteers are entirely voluntary and any assistance we can provide will ultimately be coming back to those of us that are unfortunate enough to run out of luck at some point.
From my side I have had the knowledge that Santjie and her team are there when I need them on my many flying adventures and we are really blessed to have such a wonderful team leader and such amazing volunteers when things get rough.
So c'mon everyone - don't be shy to 'fess up and donate - or just donate.
Fly Safe,
Rob
Edit By DH:
In the case of any aviation emergency call Search and Rescue immediately
011 928 6454
Santjie White 082 823 8493 (Heksie on this forum)
You can phone them 24 hours a day
Alternatively, talk to any of the local ATC's via radio, or call an emergency on 121.5Mhz
This service costs nothing to you, and they can immediately mobilize everything they need to save the victims lives, or bring them back to their families.
Thanks John Boucher for the idea. I have made this available from any of the forums, and it will always stay on top.

I have made it a Global sticky. I applaud Santjie and her team for their work!
Re: The Santjie White Fund (For when we need Search and Resc
Come on guys 200 plus views and only two pilots. We should maybe look at the so called "other forum" and feel ashamed.
The forum does not cost, (most of us) any money at all, and is used by many on a daily basis for allot of different reasons, this is now where you can
show your appreciation for all things bought, sold, viewed, advice received, fly-inns advertised, questions answered, chatting to like minded people,
giving your buddies kak, posting your pictures, sharing you flying experiences. We all use this forum for various reasons its now PAY BACK TIME I for one will be wondering when seeing someone post if they really do love flying or are they users.
Just donate the cost of 10 liters of fuel (to most, 30 minutes flying). If every microlighter does this it will make a huge difference.
I had to ask Rob to move it to " Our Forum" as we call it. I hope I,m not wrong in thinking that we would make a difference.
Best regards
Sukkelaar
ps. To set the example, I will donate R1-00 for every post I've made including this one which should be R463-00.
There have now been 231 views lets see if there's a difference after this posting

R 200 transfer done. R 100 for me, R 100 for Geel Kerneels, because sometimes we don't know the difference between east and west...

Re: The Santjie White Fund (For when we need Search and Resc
Nope - Geel Kerneels is Geel Kerneels! The one and only. Ask Leprechaun!
