Hi
Just an update. Duck Rogers het so bietjie streng geraak omdat ek net browse en nie post nie. Ek is nog besig met die opleiding maar die weer is rerig moeilik en ek is op n stadium waar ek net in goeie, rerig goeie, weer kan vlieg.

In the mean while I have purchaced a trike. It is a Raptor serial no 007 so one of the first with only 260hrs on. Under Flo's watchful eye the trike was stripped and completely rebuilt incl new shortblock 582. Last week Flo took it for its maiden flight and all is well. I have attached the GPS data and a cell phone foto.

One thing that has perplexed us is the prop. We have tried two 72x50 de necker props and on both getting 6700 rpm static which is high. The rpm was confirmed with a optical prop rev counter. So we fitted a 618 prop 76x50 and pulling 6450 rpm static. As soon as the weather clears we will test this combo. I have another electronic rev counter which I will also attached to reconfirm the rpm. If rpm is true this is a nice motor. Any ideas on props welcome.

Good news
=D* =D* =D* =D*

Can't wait to meet up again.
My plane's almost ready.........just the firewall forward to sort out then we can meet up for breakfast

BTW.....if that's the correct rpm on the new prop, then it seems to be the correct prop vhpy

Hi Duck yip the rpm is correct, when we flew it the prop did not unload and the rpm only went up by 50rpm to 6500 - so still not 100%. I don't know if the low qnh of late has anything to do with it. The fuel flow meter says 8.4l/h @ 50mph 5070rpm. I like to also try a higher pitched prop just to see.

Glad to here your aerie is coming together. I never realized the amount of work that does into these things. My biggest frustration was sourcing everything. I must have driven 1000's of km getting all bits and pieces together.

Hi Guys

Some feedback I got my licence today!!!

Reading on another thread the RAASA issue I need to add that throughout this whole process my dealings with Aeroclub, RAASA and CAA have been fantastic. I mean paying fees online, writing exams online, Efficient processing of applications, friendly and helpful staff - we are blessed. I wish these guys can also sort out our vehicle licensing systems.

The training with Flo (Aero57) was fantastic and I met so many new helpful and friendly people.

So all in all a great bunch of people and one happy newbie pilot.

Hi Pierre

Firstly welcome and sorry it is only now that i am saying Hello

Have you maybe thought that the Prop is too Long :?: Speak to Peter De Necker and get some input from him, but i think it could be that the prop is maybe just a little too heavy pitched. See if you can get a prop that is maybe 76 X 50 or 48, peter would be able to work out the exact figures for you.

Strongs and i hope you get her Tweaked and ready soon.

Hi thanks all. Now its just the left hand turns that still get me.

Tailspin yes Pieter made me a 76x50 and I am flying it at the moment. +-6600 static and 6750 in the air. You right the length has me worried but so far no nicks on the prop.

Marius dalk maak ons saterdag n draai wil net eers die weer check - is jy daar Saterdag?
