MGL Extreme

Postby toomanyswitches » Thu Aug 04, 2011 8:17 pm

Hi Guys

Just want to give my feedback on the MGL extreme. Last week Rick from Kitplanes for Africa came to install my MGL extreme in my Jabiru SP. As you can see from the limited space I have on the old jabi panel my options was limited to either the small danon or the extreme, having flown an SP with a danon EFIS before I was very keen on getting one in my plane but the cost of these units is quite heavy unitil I heard about the MGL extreme.

I went for the extreme with RDAC ,4 x egt ,4 x cht sendors ,OAT and Fuel Flow leaving the Gyro and Compass for later. The AH works with some clever GPS calculation and one can hadly notice that there is no Gyro atached to the unit. My intension was basically to use it as a engine monitor and fuel flow and this woks absolutely briliantly. The amount of aditionall information that the extreme gives you is mind bogelling from your density altitude, outside air temp even wind direction (with compass installed). All this installed without breaking the bank or having the misses not talk to me for a week.

I have now flown abour 4 hours since this unit was installed and am still finding thing that impress me every time. (eg this morning I figured out the checklist and min/max logging functions) Next will be an AP

I just want to say thanks to RIck (mogas) for the profesionall instalation and can recommend his services to anyone

About 14-18K depending on attitude and compass sensor options.
This is for full (4 cylinder) engine monitoring including fuel flow and OAT.
PM or email me your requirements if you are interested.
Thanks for the punt TMS, and all the burgers

I also have one of these and is an absolute fantastic piece of equipment. I bought it for the Thunderbird but used it on my Trike while converting the T-bird but now moved it to the T-bird.

The MGL guys are really sharp.... their service as well!

On my recent ferry flight of my Cheetah down from Springs to Mossel Bay, the Rotax regulator decided to blow the battery up into a balloon ##
Landing at Victoria West to find the fault, blonde as I am, I did not switch all the electrics off..... well I thought I had. Battery disconnected and wanting to test the regulator, poof - smoke and one fried MGL Infinity TC-1 EGT gauge! In my defence, the EGT was connected direct and not on the instrument switch! Safely home, removed the instrument, contacted Rainier, told him what happened, sent it down to MGL, quote received for repairs, paid, repaired, sent back and fitting it this afternoon.

Exceptional products made right here in SA! (^^)
