RIP Dave Becker

Postby Slick Willy » Fri Jun 17, 2011 10:35 am

Dave Bekker - a legend in aviation - passed away last night :( :(

Dave was probably the Greatest Aviation Historian in Africa and one of the best in the world.

His little note book was always with him and he never missed an opportunity to jot down a note or two about some or other aircraft.

He was always the first photographer at an airshow arriving well before sunrise and recording every aircraft that was hidden away in the hangars.

He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was a true Officer and a Gentleman.

RIP Dave Bekker :( :(

Condolences to his family and friends.

Oh no. Shame man - RIP and yet we lose another great person. Was having a chat to him just the other day at the Zwartkops airshow - what a humble and knowledgable guy he was.
Nuts about Cheetahs. Petit is the place.

Aw man thats sad. A great loss to SA aviation.
Only met him once but always enjoyed his magazine articles.
A wealth of knowledge regarding SA aviation history.

RIP Dave a great loss to aviation history, he stayed with us when the Virginia air show was on and it was Dave who gave me the idea for the reg ZU-LUI or Zulu1. He said it just had to be used...
