A day to remember!

Postby Madman » Sun Feb 13, 2011 8:47 pm

Saturday 12 Feb 2011

6am got airborne out of Circus.Met up with Percy from Klip overhead the crop circles between Circus and Klip.We routed to Bapsfontein via Ergo,Springs and Petit.

On route Russ flew at our 3 o clock with the Samda, did an awesome right hand orbit, coasted past us again before buzzing off at 110kts.

First time ever that I saw so many trikes flying.Got to Baps, was number 4 in circuit, number 5 was behind me..lol..had an awesome landing..

Met Larry and many of the Baps boys.Larry showed and helped Percy and I how to and with the servicing of our trikes.

Im bad with names so I apologise..Chris noticed a chip on my prop, when we realised it was worse than we thought. It hit so hard that it chipped the wood off the back.We finshed tge service and i asked Larry if i could leave my plane there which he said is ok.Larry left to take guys for flips and Chris left for home. Now i sit and wonder what Im going to do coz da prop, she is broken captain.

So,we remove the prop and decided that i wil fly pax with Percy holdin the prop on my lap.Get it sorted and bring it back so i can get my baby home...As we about to kit up,Larry calls Percy and advises him that Chris said I can use his prop as it is a Pprop like mine.So now i am happy, but now we cant find da hangar key.Thomas who is Larrys caretaker was helpful and managed to get the door open.We got the prop off and on my plane,by this time it was 12pm.Larry got back and Steve inflated my tyres, torqued the prop and Larry,Steve and i forgot the other guys name gave me advice on lunch time flying as i never did it before.

12h30 we took off,man was it awesome. As i got airborne,i hit a sink and second later i shot up like rocket, got knocked around properly..heavy thermals and turbulence as wel hectic sink at Springs. After an hour,Percy and i were back at our airfields.

Thanx Baps guys,u sure are an awesome bunch!

Hey There Madman,

Nice to see stories like this. The Baps guys are really good, I flew with Steve to the swartkops fly in last year and Larry did my ATF. Larry is always a great help and has a wealth of info. So tell me, you are still going to make it to the Sibaka weekend. only 5 days to go? (^^) (^^)

Fly safe

Hi Alpha,

Yeah,it was a day of learning for me...I dont think I ever learner so much about my trike and fly all in one day ##

I hope to have the Prop by Friday so I can put it back as I do not wanna miss the Sibaka trip.

After the flight of Saturday afternoon it made me realise that I can fly lunch time and it was just a case of me being afraid to do so.

I must thank all the guys of Baps as well as Jose,Russel and Johan from Circus,Percy from Klip as it is them who inspired confidence. What was interesting was that after Petit I was so relaxed that not even the craziest thermal popping and sink at Springs made me scared..I still managed to make all my radio calls..lol

Thanx Percy for an awesome Saturday...looking for to flying in that direction again!!!

Now I am ready for the Ezulweni trip xxx

Have an awesome week....The count down to Sibaka has officially begun vhpy
