I have a very unusual item on my christmas list .

This is something that has been with me on every camping trip since that BIG camping trip they called National service. (July 1980 Palagat) Some motherf.  sorry chap saw fit to liberate the spoon from my pikstel whilst I was on a tour of Mozambique.

So my request from you good fellowes is , a spoon. Not any type. This is a very specific type. The one that slips into each other. Yes i know. Its only a spoon. Ive had the piss pulled out of me already but it had great sentimental value to me.

Of cause im willing to pay for this gift. vhpy

So there you have it.

And a HO HO to you too.

It's yours Christo,

Will bring it in to work tomorrow and we can sort out the postage thing.

I also have a book on the early days of aircraft which I will throw in as well.

I had the exact same set and used it for many years untill sombody liberated the knive. I left this in a box somewhere (think in my parent garage) about 10 years ago when i moved to New York. Since then my parents moved about 3 times but will go through alll our junk and see if I can find that spoon.

Will let you know if I have any luck. Like i mentioned, it was n few years ago

Falconp1,

I still have 4 un-used sets somewhere in my garage that I organised when I left SADF & Sons in 1986. Also have two used sets that we regulary used till about two years ago when we went camping. Will search for them over the weekend.

Still have my first issue balsak, staaldak & doibie, dixie, needlewok set, webbing, trommel, etc.

Good old Pikstel. Can open anything with that nife. Tinned food, break padlocks etc. Still have mine in my camping trommel. That makes it 24 years old and still going strong.

Man this makes me happy. Looks like we might be able to reunite a few utensils with their maatjies.

Carel i opened my balsak the other day (the army one  ) and the smell that came out sent me back in time. It was a mix of hessian and canvas. My staaldak still has the net and hessian cover on it. Almost wish i was there again.

Tailspin stuf the coke. We,ll have a beer. Lite for you

Thanks Piet. We need all the help here. (^^)

Funny how they confiscated the knip mes at milpark that my dad gave me but then issued me with a knife later.

Have 4 water bottles with fire buckets. Staaldak still covered with hessian and net. Had an offer to buy it for R500-00 a few months back. Sill have my slaapsak, cannot think that I slept in it during winter and not freeze to death.

We sort of collect old stuff and know where to krap and kyk in Namibia. A lot of stuff was dumped when SADF pulled out before independence.

I'm sure you'll be able to get it at the Army surplus shop in Pretoria.

My flight suit (RED)
Made for a 'small oke' (Save the chirps)
About 100kg and 1.8m not being used anymore.'''
Got a tear bottom of one of the legs, easily sewed up.
FREE (I'll even pay normal post in an envelope.......)Happy xmas
If you reckon it would fit 95kg and 1.87m, then I'd like to take that suit. I can pop in at Wintervogel sometimes or make a turn in Hout Bay or if you happen to be in the CBD I can collect there. Thanks!

Cheers,

V.
